A short YouTube cooking demo by Autumn Calabrese (Autumn Fitness) showing how to make "Swiss oatmeal" (overnight-style oats). The speaker lists precise ingredient amounts, demonstrates mixing them together, instructs to refrigerate overnight, and suggests variations (omit yogurt for dairy-free, swap fruits/nuts). She also gives a nutrition/programming note about portion/color counts used in her system and a brief recommendation to avoid added sweeteners.
Questions this video answers
1/2 cup (half a cup) dry rolled oats.
3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk.
3/4 cup of 1% Greek yogurt.
About 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
1/2 of a small apple (Granny Smith mentioned) and 1/2 of a banana.
Hello, everyone. We are having some fun today with our breakfast. So what I'm gonna make for you guys is Swiss oatmeal. It is a half a cup of dry rolled oats. Gonna add that to my bowl, and then it's 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk. Pour that in.
And then it's 3/4 cup of 1% Greek yogurt. Spoon that in. Next thing we're gonna add in is our vanilla. It's about a half a teaspoon. It's a free food. So if you go a little heavy, it's cinnamon. Sprinkle that in there. And then it's half of a small apple. I'm using a green Granny Smith apple. And then we are gonna use half of a banana. So same thing. We're gonna chop this. I like to cut the pieces a little bit smaller so that they mix in better eight walnut halves. So it's four whole walnuts. Cut those up and add them in. And then I'm just gonna mix this all up. Now you're gonna put it in the refrigerator overnight. Like I said, it's liquidy right now, but as it's sitting, it will expand in the refrigerator. It'll come out looking like this. So you have cold Swiss oatmeal. It's delicious. I want you to know you can add a little stevia to this if you'd like, but I want you to steer away from sweetening your food more than it needs to be, because that's what causes more cravings for sweetness. So with the fruit, the vanilla, and the cinnamon, it should be sweet enough. But if you're like, I just need a little bit more, you can add stevia. Few variations you can do with this. If you're staying away from dairy and you don't want to have the yogurt in there, that's fine. You could absolutely take the yogurt out. The recipe right now with the yogurt in there counts as two yellows, one red, one purple, and one blue. But like I said, if you take the yogurt out, remember to just remove that red. But it's in there. Because you're not having eggs or anything else with your breakfast. Other things you can do is change up the fruit that's in it. This one has strawberries and bananas instead of apples and bananas. And I used pecans instead of walnuts. If you're following me, you know I'm on competition prep right now. So this is a whole lot of yummy goodness. That for compet prep, I'M not allowed to have, but I'm taking one for the team and I'm having a bite.
Oh, my God.
It's like dessert right now. So good. All right.
So yummy. Chilled Swiss oatmeal. There it is. You guys, if you have fun breakfast recipes you want to share, leave them below. I'll see you next time. Bye.
