Bernadette Boas of Shedding the Bitch Radio talks Taking the Pledge/Commitment to YOU!

In this solo radio broadcast, Bernadette Boas officially launches the "Take the Pledge" campaign for her Shedding the Bitch community. She explains the campaign’s goal of recruiting 100,000 members by January 1, outlines the prize‑drawing structure (hourly winners during the launch, weekly Friday draws, and larger end‑of‑year prizes such as travel tickets and coaching sessions), and describes the merchandise (mugs, books, fuzzy socks, tote bags, notebooks, etc.). Boas emphasizes the purpose of the community: to help women (and anyone) shed negative self‑talk (“bitches”) and build confidence, support, and accountability. She introduces her personal “3 D’s” framework for making a commitment—Decide, Define, Determined—illustrating each step with anecdotes about her own coaching relationship, missed workouts, and the need for “stickability.” Throughout, she offers motivational language, shouts out supporters, provides contact information, and repeatedly urges listeners to visit sheddingthebitch.com, sign the pledge, share the movement, and attend upcoming webinars, retreats, and “bitch parties.” The broadcast blends promotional details, personal storytelling, and practical advice to inspire listeners to take a personal pledge and join the growing community.
Chapters
Hello everyone, how's everybody doing on this glorious day? This is Bernadette Boas. Yes, you are listening to Shouting the Bitch Radio, and I am coming from you from Atlanta today. And for those of you potentially watching this on video, you'll, you'll think I'm not necessarily paying attention to you and I look a little distracted. Actually, I am posting our noon drawing for our Take the Pledge campaign contest that we have going, because today is our official launch. Woohoo! And I'll talk about that more throughout the show today. And at the same time, we're going to blend in this Take the Pledge campaign where I am looking to gather 100,000 of my closest friends and those women that are really looking to make a change in their life together so they can build a community where they and I can, you collaborate, engage, and support each other shedding all the angst, attitudes, and negative belief systems that we have of ourselves so we can then be bold and confident and strong about pursuing our goals and our dreams. So today being the official launch, I'm on Twitter, I'm on Facebook, I'm chatting it up with you @sheddingthebitch. And I'm sorry, our handle is @shedthebitch on Twitter, and on Facebook it is Shedding the Bitch if you were to Google that. And I am announcing hourly winners. So right now I am posting the winner of our noon show, or I'm sorry, our noon prize, and that is Lisa Haley Constable, who's one of our latest new pledge takers on sheddingthebitch.com. And she actually joined our community and our newsletter. So I want to welcome Lisa Haley Constable to our family. And at the same time, we also had a couple we have a couple of other winners already. Deb Hall, she was one of our friends on Facebook on our Shed the Bench page, and that was in the 9 o'clock hour. And Shay Lanade, I hope I got your name right, and she's one of our latest and greatest Twitter followers. And now Lisa Haley Constable. So I'm very excited. This is so much fun. I mean, nothing better than to, you know, give away gifts. So, and what are they winning? That's what I was just asked on Facebook earlier. Well, if you can see, and I did post an image for those of you listening, there is an image on Facebook. But we have mugs, Shedding the Bitch mugs, and of course Shedding the Corporate Bitch book of mine. We have little socks, Shedding the Bitch fuzzy fuzzy socks. If you ever come to our workshops or our bitch parties, you'll understand why I give away little fuzzy socks. You can't shed your bitch when you're all like, you know, in high heels or, you know, really dressed classy clothes or shoes or whatever the case might be. So I try to get everybody really comfortable. Plus, I want to be able to throw on a robe and a pair of slippers myself. So it helps tremendously. We have notebooks. If I were to be able to, you know, send you— where is it? If I were to be able to send you our wine, you'd be able to have even Shed the Bitch wine. But I think I'd be, you know, kind of arrested for transporting wine without a liquor license. And then, you know, we have tote bags and we have some other gifts and surprises So if you participate and you contribute and you join the movement at sheddingthebitch.com, you take our pledge, you get into the drawings not only for today, which is hourly because it's our launch, but weekly every Friday at 3 PM I announce on Facebook. And the prizes get bigger as we go. So today will be, you know, the mugs and the books and the socks and the tote bags and whatnot. And then we'll fill the tote up with a bunch of stuff, and then we'll just get bigger and bigger as we go. And the campaign running till January January 1st at the end of this year, we'll then draw for really big prizes like 2 free round-trip tickets anywhere in the country. And maybe you choose to do that when you become a VIP Richie to our spring retreat, our Shedding the Bitch retreat. And then you'll also get some personal one-on-one coaching time with me. I can come out and have a bitch party for 20+ of your closest friends, and the list goes on. So we'll talk about that a lot more as the weeks and the in the month past. However, the more times you contribute to blog postings or comments and you sign up and you join our movement and you take the pledge and you submit a video and the list goes on and on, each time you do one of those things, you're going to be able to be entered for every instance, every contribution that you make to the community. Because again, the purpose of this campaign and Shedding the Bitch community as a whole is to build up a large circle of friends, and our goal is 100,000 by January 1st, in order for us then and you to then have a pool of people that you can go to and rely on and vent and maybe cry, get support, have some laughs, whatever the case might be. Build your own Shitting the Bitch community in your own community, your backyard, so to speak. So anyway, so I don't wanna, you know, I don't wanna sell the farm on this radio show This is all about providing you tips and advice and support in regards to shedding those bitches out of your head and your heart in order for you to realize riches in life. So I'm online at 1-818-572-2910. I'm also on Twitter, and bear with me as I try to multitask. Right now, @TLady77 kind of checked in. Thank you very much, I appreciate it. And also, I do love to to acknowledge and shout out to our fans and our friends. So when you do, you'll also see some shoutouts on Facebook and Twitter. So that actually helps your exposure too. So as we build our community here at Shitting the Bitch, you'll also be able to build your community as well. So today's conversation was going to be all about taking the pledge. And not literally taking the pledge if you choose not to. I'm not here to strong-arm you. But what does it mean What does it mean to make a commitment? So of course in my little, in my research, I don't want to call it little, I mean any type of research that we do, you know, kind of educates and informs and builds within us. The research that I did, I simply Googled what is a pledge or what is a commitment? What does it mean to make a commitment to ourselves? I mean, have you thought about it? You know, you might be married. I have a fear of commitment obviously. 'Cause I have not. Actually, I have no fear of commitment. I'm a very committable person. There's some other bitches that I have to deal with, and I continue to, and I, you know, I get beyond when it comes to that being one of my bitches, is, you know, intimacy and all that kind of good stuff. And for those of you who have read Shading the Corporate Bitch, you'll get an idea as to what some of those little bitches are in my head and heart. But I'm working them. I'm working them. And, you know, the pool of men is growing. So that's fun, that's fun. But anyway, so, but some of us do have a fear of commitment. Some of us do have a fear of pledging to ourselves and deciding to, you know, for ourselves that we're gonna make us, our us individual women and men. I'm not excluding you here, but I'm speaking to women. There's nothing wrong to making a commitment, taking a pledge of your own in order for you then to be able to kind of get out of your own way and pursue whatever goals and your dreams and objectives that you have personally, professionally, financially, spiritually, whatever the case might be. I mean, I'll give you a for instance myself. I don't know if you've experienced this, and if you have, you know, feel free to call into me and make some comments or to chat in as well. And then of course on Twitter, and I'll be watching as as much as I can without totally being distracted. And really kind of think about this because we do have, you know, we do have some challenges, you know, when it comes to making those, you know, those commitments and those pledges to ourselves. And I was going somewhere and I did totally— I did totally go, "Woo!" out to left field. I was going to tell you something and now I've completely forgotten and it wasn't built into my little outline here. So we'll just keep, we'll just keep talking on this point of what does it mean. Okay, so according to the dictionary, commitment is taking a pledge, is making a promise or an obligation, and then the other one was engaging. Which I found interesting. I would not have— I guess engaging when it comes to when you make a commitment, when you pledge to do something, you're engaging yourself into doing that. And, you know, and I think all of those are very nicely tied together. And so the question, the first question I want you to think about is What was the last true pledge or commitment you made to you? Not to somebody else, not to your PTA, not to your boss, not to your husband, spouse, partner, whatever. Um, husband, spouse, that's the same thing, right? Boyfriend, spouse, partner. And what was that that you said to yourself I am going to blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, fill in the blank. So for instance, I meet with my business coach, shout out to Joan Curtis of Total Communications Coach of Athens, Georgia. But she does it, I rarely get an opportunity to see her, I've mentioned that before. So we meet on the phone. So it doesn't matter if you're in, let's say, India, Ireland, Australia, in London watching the Olympics, or right here in the States, you can reach out to Joan Curtis of Total Communications Coach. Www.bernadetteboasassociationscoach.com. Anyway, being my coach, every Friday at 2 PM Eastern time, she challenges me on my commitments to myself. And yes, she'll talk about the business, she'll talk about, you know, the campaign, kicking that off. She'll talk about the people around me to my whatever. But more importantly, she talks about me. What commitment am I making to myself? Whether that's around losing weight, or I won't even say always losing weight because I don't necessarily always focus on needing to lose weight. I focus on wanting to be healthy and trying to get fit. And now I'd like to, you know, trim down, whether that means, you know, loss of weight per se or not, is not really the concern of mine. So she'll challenge me about whether or not I'm getting out and dating. We don't really talk about my dating life per se. She'll just say, "Okay, what are you doing to ensure that you are putting yourself out there?" So, you know, and those are some of the commitments. Committing to this campaign, committing to you that I'm going to work my little tail off over, you know, the next, you know, many years, but more so over the next 6 months during this campaign. I am doing whatever I need to do and hopefully doing it well. Sometimes kind of not being able to focus completely if I'm trying to multitask like I am today, but making a commitment to you that I want to help you. I want to guide you. I want to give you the resources, tips, and advice that you can use in order to discover, confront, and shed those bitches of fear, insecurity, doubt, low self-esteem, feelings of unworthiness,— negativity, angst. This morning people were talking about their bitch, as I would call it, about road rage. Whatever the case might be, whatever your inner demon is, what we call bitches, I'm here to help give you the tools and the resources and the experts in order for you to push through those so you can go and pursue life fully and completely and richly, as we say here. So that's what Take the Pledge is all about. That's why I'm also asking you, you know, to raise your hand, you know, in a video, just like what I'm sitting here doing right now. If you're listening, you can always go out to YouTube to my Shitting the Bitch channel and also pull it down from a video perspective. And it'll also be on our website probably by day end today. But anyway, so I'm demonstrating taking the pledge. Take the pledge to yourself and identify one thing you're gonna do for yourself. And it doesn't matter that it's not a Monday— like, I always tend to want to start things on a Monday. Doesn't matter that it's not January 1st. It doesn't matter that it's not July 1st, you know, for the second half of the year. It doesn't matter if it's a Tuesday. Whatever it takes for you to decide to you know, decide that you're going to take a pledge and make a commitment to yourself. And last week we even talked about on the show, what is it going to take? What do you need to experience in order to push through whatever fear, apprehension, or stubbornness, or insecurity, or doubt, whatever, about taking a commit— making a commitment, taking a pledge? Push through it. And that's why I'm here. I can be your tough love virtual kick in the butt to make that commitment to yourself and take that pledge. And as we build the community within the, you know, the Shedding the Bitch world, you'll also have tons of opportunities online, in person, whatever the case might be on this show to really, you know, really ask the questions you need, get the advice, get the support, get the stroking. You know, get the tissue if you need one, whatever the case might be. And you'll get a lot of momentum and motivation and energy and focus and clarity that will also just, you know, allow you to push your way through. But there's steps that you need to do. It's not easy. You know, it's not easy. Doesn't matter how small your challenges, your pledges, the goals goal that you've set. Because regardless of what it is, if your head's not in the game, as they say, you're not going to do it. It's just that plain and simple. And so therefore, the one thing— I have 3 D's for you today, 3 D's. The first D is you need to decide that you want to change in your life, whatever that change might be, however big or small— I'm getting pinged— but however big or small, you need to decide for yourself that you're going to make that commitment, you're going to take that pledge, you're going to honor yourself in whatever that challenge is or that opportunity or that goal is. Without deciding you're still going to be stuck in the "okay, so what now" type of situation, or you're just not going to do it. So how many of us, and being, you know, ladies, come on, how many of us January 1st commit that we want to get into the gym more, lose some pounds, get out on the road, maybe running or cycling, and a week, 2 weeks into it you don't do it. Even the next day, you don't get yourself up. I've committed, you know, Joan, if you're listening, I committed to her Friday that as of this past Monday, yesterday, Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I was going to get up and do a 30-minute video because I can't get out. I have a client that I see on those days, and I can't get physically outside other than to walk Charlie. Right, right, Boo? Because he needs to be walked. But other than that, I really can't get out to do the lengthy walk that I then do on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. So I told her, well, it would be easy for me to get up at 5:00, 5:30, 6 o'clock and do a 30-minute video and then get on with my day. She said, great. She said, are you in? I said, I'm in. Yesterday morning, what did I do? I was out. I can't explain to you why. I got up. I'm not even gonna make it an excuse. I just simply got up and didn't do it. I knew I was supposed to do it, or I knew I committed to doing it. I just didn't commit up here. I committed to her but not up here. So I'm gonna work on that today because tomorrow morning I need to be able to do— I want to be able to do the same thing. I've decided I want to get that kind of goal kicked off and take action on it. So, you know, so we all have those bitches. We all have excuses. We all play victim. We all just talk ourselves out of situations. You need to decide. I need to decide. You need to decide. To make a pledge, make a commitment. And I like the word obligated in this situation that the dictionary pointed out, because if you look at it as an obligation, then you might take it a little bit more seriously. Because that word just denotes to me kind of a commitment, like I don't want to let somebody down. But how many times do we let ourselves down? I'll go to the ends of the moon to make sure I don't disappoint somebody else, but yet I'll do it time and time again to myself. You do it time and time again to yourself. So what is it going to take for you to, to be able to kind of stick to it? Okay, a shout out to Greg Reed, by the way, of Three Feet from Gold. This is just really off the cuff because I use the word stickability, and that's His up-and-coming book is Stickability, and I happen to be online the other day and caught him live streaming from Vegas his awesome presentation about 3 Feet from Gold, Stickability, and he— a shout out to Greg. You can find him on Facebook and Twitter and on the website. Just simply go to @gregreed.com. But anyway, So stickability, as he talks about, you need that in order to make that decision to go and do it. Okay, the next thing is you really want to— and I call it define— you really want to define what that goal, objective, commitment is to yourself. I mean, certainly you can say, because anything— for instance, our pledge. I don't want to give it away because I really want you to go online and take the pledge. But the pledge is all about believing in yourself. The pledge is all about honoring the riches that you already possess. Because as Brian Tracy and Mark Victor Hansen and Les Brown and Greg and you know, all of Oprah, all those individuals, and myself, what we will tell you is you have everything you need to get anything that you want right now. And therefore, like for instance, Payne on Twitter this morning was saying that she would love to travel the world and help children, save children from poverty, but she has too many things standing in her way. No, no, she has herself standing in her way. Anything else she, you know, can learn, she can acquire, she can, you know, support, she can find how she wants to go about accomplishing her goal, her dream, her commitment to herself. And you're the same way. You have everything that you need to do whatever it is that you want to do in this lifetime. And being that I just turned 50 this past year— woohoo! Shout out to all of us 50-year-olds. Um, I, you know, I, I don't want another day, another week, another month, or a year to go by, or a decade to go by, and not be working on exactly what it is that I want out of my life. I might be slower in some of them than others, I might have little, you know, little bitches holding me back in some more than others, but I'm, you know, I've made the commitment and the pledge to myself to keep pushing in all the, the easies and the hard areas, and I want to help you do the same. So define what it is that you want and make it really specific. Make it really specific. So if you do listen to Brian Tracy, and if you don't, you should check him out too, but he talks about his SMART process, you know, defining goals in a SMART way: specific, measurable, actionable, relevant, and time-based. SMART. So where define comes in is that specific and measurable. You really want to make sure that you can see it, feel it, touch it. You know, Oprah does vision boards boards for that reason. I have a vision board up on my— as my desktop that I can look at anytime that I— well, definitely in the morning, and every time I boot up, I kind of just stop and look at it just to kind of, you know, keep it in my head as to what my goals and dreams and ambitions, in a good way, what they are. And that's what that's all about. So define it very specifically, very very actionably, if that's a word, in a way that you can then define what you need to do in order to move forward on those things. But know what it is. Know what it is. Making a commitment to you is a good thing. Believing in you is a good thing. Honoring you is a good thing. But a lot of people, and we've talked about this and we'll get into it more in the coming weeks, but A lot of people even question what, what good is it about them? Like, where do they excel? Where do they make people smile? Where do they really kind of radiate in their, you know, in their life? And you should know that. Each one of us should know that about ourselves. And yet a lot of us just are very humble and very, you know, just even— not even just humble, but we don't think about that. It's almost like we don't want to praise ourselves. Shameless PR, you know, I'm all about it now. Shameless PR, whether it's about the business or even about me. And I won't go boasting it externally per se, but I need to, and you need to within your own heart and soul. You need to boast about how great of a person you are. And if you don't believe it, there's the bitch that you need to pledge to shed once and for all. Okay, I'm just trying to watch the time. I want to make sure I get everything in. I tend to like get so excited about these things. So you need to first decide and then define, and then you need to be determined, and I mean determined. It's one thing again that— and it's easier too, that once you decide, you're going to be determined. And once you've defined what it is that you want, you'll get more determined. And you need to really lean back on those things in order to keep you determined to move forward and to really pursue whatever it is that you you want. Find the resources, pick up the phone, you know, walk the streets, reach out to your friends, become humble about what it is that you need from individuals. And we'll definitely talk a lot about that because one thing I even had a lot of trouble doing, you know, until the last several years is really asking for help. You know, I mean, people kind of knew what I wanted because it was just so so kind of out there. It was so materialistic. It was so blatant. It was just so ugly that everybody knew. I wore it on my sleeve. And yet, when I really kind of came out of all that and really thought about what it is that I wanted, it was just kind of then like, okay, so how without like seeming insecure, seeming vulnerable, whatever, ask for what it is that I want? You know what? I don't really care anymore. I'm going to ask. I have to. You have to. And once you become determined, then that will go away. That bitch of not wanting to ask for help and not feeling you deserve to ask, that will slowly go away. I won't say it will do it quickly. It will slowly go away. So you need to decide to define and be determined, the 3 Ds. And take the pledge to yourself. Go on sheddingthebitch.com. And you know what, I just want to reward you for it. You take the pledge, get into a drawing, not only for our hourlies today during our launch, but each Friday you can go out to Facebook or Twitter and you'll see the announcement. Of the winner for the week. And then as we go forward, the gifts will get, you know, bigger and bigger. And it's not about size, right? This is about you taking the pledge. But at the same time, I want to kind of give you some incentive other than a big swift kick in the butt. But I will if I have to. I will, I will, I will. And stay tuned. At the same time, watch our event board on sheddingthebitch.com. Stay tuned for the bitch parties coming to you and/or to a city that you can come to. And stay— pay attention to the webinars we'll be having and the programs and the events and so forth and so on. Because again, we're building this community and our goal is 100,000, and I would love for you to help share, you know, get your family and friends to join in and take the pledge to themselves as well. And that'll be a great community for you to then lean on as you decide to discover, confront, and shed your bitches in order for you to be able to create and accelerate the riches in life. So for everybody at Shedding the Bitch, I am so excited about our launch. Take the pledge. Come to sheddingthebitch.com. Join us next Tuesday at noon Eastern time, and we're going to get into how you can discover those bitches while honoring your riches. So everybody have a fabulous, fabulous day. Thank you so much for joining. Bye-bye. Thank you for using BlogTalkRadio. Goodbye.
