Bernadette Boas. Here's my take on relationships and some rich tips on how to keep long-term relationships fresh, new, and exciting. You both have to respect each other. You both have to communicate with one another, no matter how easy or hard that is. You both have to listen to one another. And between the respect, the communication, and listening, you're going to find that you're able to compromise, you're able to appreciate, you're able to understand. And certainly you're going to disagree, you're going to fight, you're going to debate, you're going to delight in each other's differences and in each other's needs and in each other's wants. However, it has to come down to you mutually respecting each other, even long before, you know, the love is there or the soulmate titles put onto your relationship. It really comes down to you being able to be with someone that you really respect, want to communicate with, even the hard things, even the difficult things, even the exciting things but scary things. And then at the same time, listening to what your partner, spouse, the other party needs from you and being able to find the mutual things that you have in common, but also to appreciate the differences that you do not, and then making compromises and sacrifices for one another, and really just settling and appreciating the other person. And whether or not that is defined as comfortable to you or boring to you or just right for you, whatever it is, you have the opportunity, you can control what it is that you want that relationship to bring to you. But you first need respect, you need the communication, and you need the listening in order to make that happen. So women, stop worrying so much about wanting an exciting, passionate relationship or love interest. Find those things that you respect, communicate them, and listen to, to your partner. Blend them all together. Shake them up and see what new, fresh, and creative things you can bring back into the relationship to make it that much fuller, that much richer.
