Hi everyone, it's Bernadette Boas with Shedding the Bitch, and I am on day 3 of my 90-day Shedding the Weight Bitch Challenge. And I spoke about it on my video blog on Monday, you can check it out for yourself. But basically, I am planning to lose 25 pounds by April 23rd. And I've asked you to come along with me. Maybe you can motivate and support me, maybe you can share your stories, maybe you can share what's worked or hasn't worked for you so I either can do them or avoid them.. And then at the same time, maybe my ups and downs over the next 90 days will help you in any way, shape, or form, and I'd love to be able to do that. So go to www.sheddingthebitch.com over— as we go forward over these next 90 days. I'd love to hear from you. But today I also wanted to talk to you about consequences when it comes to your goals and your dreams. If you're like most people, including myself quite honestly, I've always focused on setting rewards for any goal that I might accomplish. What I never really focused on is what are the consequences if I don't meet my goal? So what basically will happen and/or what consequence will I give myself, just like I'm giving myself a reward if I accomplish it, but what would happen if I don't? And this 25 pounds is extremely important to me. So I saw over the— this past weekend that there were a number of people that gave themselves some pretty tough consequences. One gentleman shaved his head because he didn't meet his weight goal. One woman ate 8 ounces of chicken livers because she didn't. Somebody else talked about giving up their BlackBerry and their TV for a day or a weekend if they don't meet their goals. So I sat there and I said, okay, I have this most cherishable family event every year. My 5 sisters and I with my mother go down to the beach and we just spend 7, 8 days just laughing and, you know, just talking it up and just having the time of our lives. And it's an extremely important activity for me, and I'm gonna try not to cry. And the thought of not doing that, especially this coming May and last year was a difficult year for a number of reasons on our trip, but it's an extremely important week for me. And so I said to myself, okay, fine, then if I don't meet my goal by April 23rd, then that trip, which is in, uh, the May-June time frame, I won't be able to go on. Now that's kept me extremely focused and extremely motivated, and it's caused me to ensure that I get in my 30-minute workouts and check in with my accountability manager and also track my diet. And I'm going to challenge you to do the same. It's the beginning of the year, it's still January. You might have, might have, if not, you know, create your goals for the year or create it for the next 90 days like myself. Come up with a reward, and I have one for myself, but also come up with a consequence. Maybe that stick along with the carrot will keep you focused and motivated to really stay on track with your goal. And nothing is better than than being able to achieve something and reward yourself something. And I'm certainly not gonna look forward to if I have to have a consequence for not meeting my goal. So follow me, check in, share your stories. Maybe I can, you know, help you in any way, shape, or form over the next 90 days and going forward. And I'm gonna love hearing your stories. So this is Bernadette Boas with Shedding the Bitch. And please go to www.sheddingthebitch.com and we'd love to hear from you. Good luck everybody. Thanks.
