Hi everyone, Bernadette Boas with your Rich Tip for today. It's all about time management. How can you get more time in your day? Now we all have 24 hours in a day, no less and no more, and yet some people can use those 24 hours as if they were 48 hours. While others use those same 24 hours as if they only had 7. So what can you do immediately to start increasing your productivity and getting more done within a day? I kind of thought about doing this just a few minutes ago, so excuse my appearance. I just came back from the dog park because a group of us at the dog park were talking about the fact that there's just so much to do in any given day, and I found myself all of a sudden having a little coaching session in the middle of the park. So I figured if they're having the same issue, maybe you are too. So I'm gonna give you 3 great tools that you can use in order to immediately start getting more done in one 24-hour time period. Alright, now I'm not asking you to work 24 hours, but at least in the time that you do wanna work or you need to work, you'll get a lot more done. Alright? Now, one key element of this about time management is also goal setting. So I recommend that you go back to sheddingthebitch.com or go to our YouTube channel, Shedding the Bitch, and find the goal setting rich tip video that I did just the other day. Because that will really set you up too to leverage one or two of these tips. Because goal setting is a critical, critical time management tool. And yet, we don't want to go through this again. I want to provide you kind of the next steps to leveraging that goal setting method and tip that I provided you. Okay? So, the first thing is, we're going to assume, since we went through the goal setting already, that you have had to find some goals that you might have. Again, goals can be around relationships, around business, around money, your fitness and health, your spirituality, your friends and your social life, whatever the case might be. So I came up with 3 that are relatively generic. So say you want to lose 35 pounds. The next one would be that you want to be promoted at work. And the last one would be you want to meet a man. Alright, so we kind of threw a little bit of a few of the life business areas that you might want to set goals around. Now, if you followed the, the SMART methodology that was discussed in that other video, you will have also defined not only you want to lose, for instance, 35 pounds, or you want to get promoted, but you also made sure it was measurable and time-bound. So say you want to lose 35 pounds by January 1st, and then you want to get promoted by August 1st, you want to meet a man by 4th of July so the fireworks will will come not only in the sky but also in your heart. Okay? So, using the S.M.A.R.T. methodology, I'm gonna trust that your goal is very specific. Yet, I know from my own self that working on 3 goals, especially big goals, at one particular time is very hard to do. So, what I'm gonna suggest you do, especially if you really wanna be certain that you achieve any one of these 3 goals, is you need to get them prioritized. You need to decide which one is the number one priority. And no, all three can't be number one priorities, no matter how much you want to sit here and resist me. So you do want to look at all three of them. Yes, they're all important. They all have different reasons and your whys for why you want to achieve the, the any one or all three of these goals. But you definitely need to pick one. So, a good way of choosing one is to use your other time elements or measurements that you defined in your goal. So, for instance, meeting a man by July 1st has a much more shorter window of both opportunity and need to focus on it than something that you want to get done by January 1st. Not to say you need to start working on your fitness today and your health today to get to that January 1st date. But say you use that first, you use the time-bound and you say, okay, this one appears to be more of a priority. However, if in any way, shape, or form your 35 pounds that you feel you need to lose are— is going to sabotage your belief system and your confidence in achieving and pursuing your July 4th, then that might be your top priority. Now say from your, from the second goal around getting promoted, that means more money and you are really in a position right now that you need more money. So it's up to you to decide of all the different factors that make up each one of these goals. So we talked about in that other video that just stating that you want to lose weight is not an actionable goal. You need to get it to be actionable by defining all those elements. And then you'll notice as we're talking that it's just not as simple as saying, "I have these 3 goals and I'm going to pursue all 3 of them." You know, 1, you're just going to be setting yourself up for failure, and 2, there's a lot of things that, you know, go into even one of these goals. So use the various elements of your SMART methodology of how you defined your goal to really decide, "Okay, what is the number 1 thing I'm going to focus on?" Now, you might even decide that you're gonna focus on 2 of them, but you're only gonna focus on each one at different times. So, the career one obviously could be Monday through Fridays, and you're gonna at least start chipping away at losing your weight on the weekends. Make sense? So, decide which one is your number 1 focus though. Alright, so that's the first, your first tip is prioritize and actually put a 1, 2, 3, 4, however many goals you have. And decide which one's the most important because then your number one success factor in achieving that goal is you completely focus on that goal with all the other distractions that life might bring you, you still just focus on that one goal and that one goal helps you prioritize in your life what has to happen. So, for instance, if you have— if you set the goal for 35 pounds by January 1st, And again, go back to that other video as to how we say, okay, you could, you know, kind of cut that down to where you're only focusing it on by a month and a week. But say, you know, you need to start focusing heavily and get really started in a good way toward that goal. Well, then that means that the next tip would be you need to lay out every task and every activity that you then need to do in order to achieve that goal. So for instance, if this is the one we chose to be your number one, okay, then what you want to do is you want to make a laundry list of all the things that you're going to need to do. So you're going to need to schedule maybe the gym or walks or hikes or whatever the case might be. You literally need to put those on your calendar. That's a task, that's an activity that's going to take time that you need to devote in your day. You need to buy sneakers. If you're like me, you know, you use the excuse of, you know, you don't have a new pair of sneakers to avoid going to the gym or going for walks or whatever the case might be. You need to, uh, maybe you want to see a nutritionist because your diet is definitely going to weigh in here. Then you need to go to the grocery store, and then you need to kind of, uh, maybe find a friend And then you need to sign up for a gym membership. So all of a sudden, this one goal that you have to lose 35 pounds is not that simple. It's a laundry list of things that you're going to need to do. And you need to get a focus on what all those things are. From the smallest little note of a thing, like it only takes 5 minutes to put on your calendar that you're going to work out Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Yet that's a critical, critical part of this whole thing, right? So, that's the first thing that you want to do. And then from there, what's most important is just like we did with the goals, you can't do all these things all at once. There's a priority of what it is that you need to do first, second, and third in order to then move closer and closer to that goal. So, you want to take a look at this list and say, "Okay, so what are my, you know, 1, 2, and 3 things?" I'm the type of person, and that's going to be our third tip, I'm the type of person who says, that you'll, you'll be much more successful if you only focus on 1 to 3 things each day or each week. Okay, because if you continually have a list in front of you that has 100 things on it, you're going to get very overwhelmed and you're going to get discouraged. And next thing you know, you're laying on the couch eating potato chips, or in my case, it's ice cream. But you take that laundry list, you You pick the 3 things that you deemed to be the top 1, 2, 3 priorities and then you put that list aside and away and just focus on those 3 things. And we're going to talk about that in a second. So, make your laundry list and then prioritize those. So, for instance, you might deem that making sure your diet is right is more important than starting the fitness program. So, you actually have to do any, you know, then look at just the part of the list that includes your diet. So, that might be a nutritionist. Nutritionist, that might be making up your food plan, going grocery shopping, whatever the case might be. So look at those things and determine what is most critical. For instance, of the grocery list— or I'm sorry, of the, the health and the nutrition part of it, it might not be going to the nutritionist right away. It might be just, well, you can do your own research to figure out, you know, what food plan you should be following. But that would be a task. So you would need to add research or Google. I Google everything. So that would be a task and you want to block out time in order to do that, but we'll get to that in a minute. So you need to decide which is the most important of all the things that you need to work on to get to your goal of 35 pounds. And then even from there, choose those 3. Okay? So we have prioritizing your goals that we defined in that other video. Go and find it on sheddingthebitch.com or YouTube. Then you have— we have that you're going to make a laundry list of all the things that you need to do to achieve that first goal. And then you're going to prioritize 1, 2, 3, those things that are in that list that you can now focus on each and every day until those 3 are completed and/or their priority has changed. Alright? So, the next thing you want to do is you want to take those 3 and you literally want to put and figure out when on your schedule you're going to take care of them. So, I really strongly believe, as I often talk about, that we can all focus just on 3 things. And therefore, what I do is, say this is your Outlook calendar, your Google calendar, whatever the case might be, I take a look at the whole month, okay? And then I even proactively take that list, take the number 1, 2, and 3 priorities, determine how long it's going to take to do each one of those, and then I plot them on a time box. So this is, um, this was April 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, all the way through. And I even then plot when I'm going to do all those. So it's not only the tasks, right? Say your gym, say you're walking, say the fitness piece of it was added into your list. So you can sit there and say, and they're now a priority, So you can sit there and block out that you're going to go walking, you know, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. You're going to take off Tuesdays and Thursdays. You're going to, you know, go walking on Saturdays and Sundays. You're going to hike maybe Sunday instead of walking, whatever the case might be. And you can automatically map out what you need to do. If you need to go to the grocery store, when do you go to the grocery store? Plot a date that's best for you. Maybe you want to start going to the the produce market, and they're on Saturdays. So you plot it out proactively into your schedule and treat those things as appointments. Now, that said, obviously whether you work in corporate or for a company or not, or you have your own business, you certainly don't want to go to the produce or go to the grocery store, you know, between 9 and 5 when it's your either your salary or your revenue-generating time period. So, but proactively plan that because you don't want to at the end of the week or at the end of the month or all of a sudden at the end of the 6 months that you planned your goal to be achieved, you don't want to all of a sudden say, "Oh well, work got in the way," or, you know, "My business got in the way," or "My family got in the way," all those excuses that will come up. You, if you plan it out proactively, you've prioritized them, you've set out all the tasks and activities, you've prioritized those, and then you time block them, then you have no excuse for achieving your goal. Okay? So, take your goals that we defined in the other video of goal setting, prioritize those, 1, 2, 3. Take the number 1, list out all the tasks that you need to achieve in order to accomplish that goal. Define those by 1, 2, 3, prioritize them 1, 2, 3, and then take those 3, plot them out on your calendar as to when you're going to either execute on them and achieve them, or what the schedule is to embed those into your routine, depending upon what the goal is, and then start taking action on them and using those kind of boundaries to ensure that you are accomplishing your goal and objective. Alright? So this rich tip is all about time management and I hope that you will use them and even come to Facebook or sheddingthebitch.com and leave your comments about how this tip has helped you shift to riches in your business and your life.
