Shattering the Glass Walls Within with Ginny Townsend

In this Shedding the Bitch Radio episode, host Bernadette Boas interviews Ginny Townsend, founder of UnSabotage, about the concept of internal "glass walls"—self‑imposed mental barriers that keep women (and anyone) from achieving their full potential. Ginny explains how these walls form from early life experiences, describes her discovery process using daily stream‑of‑consciousness journaling and word‑cloud analysis, and outlines the two‑part UnSabotage model: a discovery phase (identifying glass walls, uncovering super‑powers) and a shattering phase (guardrails, visual metaphors like icebergs and ant‑on‑elephant, and a five‑step course called Un‑Sabotage Your Life). The conversation also covers practical tools (guided prompts, analog/digital word‑clouds), the importance of guardrails and accountability partners, and how age or personality influences willingness to confront walls. Bernadette promotes her book Shedding the Corporate Bitch with a birthday giveaway, encourages listeners to use #Unsabotage and #ShedTheBitch to win autographed copies, and highlights sponsors. The episode blends motivational storytelling, coaching methodology, and promotional calls‑to‑action.

818-572-2910. Good day, good day, good day everyone! Happy Tuesday, and it is an absolutely Beautiful day here in Atlanta, Georgia. I hope it is wherever you are. The sun is out. We've actually gotten above the teens and the 20s, which for Atlanta is not normal. That's why it's called Hotlanta. So we've been kind of frigid for the last few weeks and fortunately are thawing out. And wherever you are, I hope it's just as beautiful morning, noon, or night. 'Cause it is January, it's mid-January, we are 23 days into the new year, can you believe it? So hopefully you're still focused and determined to take action on your goals and to achieve them. And if you ever feel like you're waffling or you're giving up, that's okay, you could just hit the reset button and get started all over again. So every day is a reset day should you need it. And at the same time, we're here in the Shedding the Bitch community in case you need help to just kind of give yourself a kick in the butt, quite honestly, because every once in a while we all need it. But hopefully the new year is going strong for you and is looking like it's going to be your best year yet. I'm excited about January because— and I got this idea from Ellen, watching her the other day on her show. Ellen and I, and actually Oprah, we're all Aquarians. We all actually have birthdays only a couple days apart from each other's. And so Ellen was really making a big deal and, you know, talking up her birthday. And she's turning 60, so it's a great milestone. Love the fact that she's not hiding from that fact. And I have always been the type, and I hope you are too, that I love celebrating my birthday. I love celebrating the fact that I still can get up in the morning, put my feet on the ground, have breath in my lungs, and joy in my heart. And so my birthday being January 29th— so is Oprah's, by the way, same day. I don't know what that means. But I thought of something because Ellen is giving away gifts. She's going to have a big birthday celebration. And so at some point during the show, I'm going to tell you— how you can be one of 5 individuals who get a free copy of my book. So I'll be giving some things away for the next few weeks as well and just making sure that we all appreciate the life that we have, and I certainly do. I'll be turning 56, which is a little bit weird for me. 50 was awesome. 53 was okay. 54, I was getting stressed. But 56 feels good, feels good with me. So I thought I would give back and pay it forward. So just pay attention to the show. At some point toward the middle of the show, I'll tell you how you can get your free copy of Shedding the Corporate Bitch: Shifting from Bitch to Rich in Life and Business. And it'll be autographed copies, so that'll be an extra little gift for you. So we'll do that at some point in the show. Also, go back to our previous shows. A lot of you go back after the live broadcast and download either the podcast off of iTunes. You can also go to BlogTalkRadio, Shedding the Bitch Radio, and then also our sheddingthebitch.com website with our radio channel there. There's a lot of ways to get access to it. You can also go and at times when I have our guests in studio in Atlanta, I will videotape them so you can see our smiley faces, so you can always check that out on our Shedding the Bitch YouTube channel. There's a lot of ways to stay connected to the community. But today, I kind of want to just get into this conversation. I'll introduce the subject and give you your rich question for the day. We'll take a brief break, come back and dive into it because I just— when I came across not only the subject matter, it's time to shatter your glass walls, but also our guest. I just, I felt a kismet, I felt like a connection to her and what it is that she's doing, and I absolutely love her message and love the support that she's giving to both women and men, to anyone that just is trying to deal with these glass walls. So the subject matter being, it's time to shatter your glass walls. Very similar, you've all heard about glass ceilings, those externally imposed limitations that can require time, key figures, campaigns, and even legislation to shatter those walls. But did you know we also contend with glass walls? These are the barriers we've unintentionally set up in our own way. And the great news about all that, the great news about glass walls, is that they are internal, and once we know what they look like, we have the ability to shatter them once and for all and step forward into your greatness. Now the 3 things you're going to want to pay attention to, actually there will be 4, are, is what glass walls actually are and how they show up in your life. And the two main building blocks that create these glass walls, and where in your mind these glass walls actually live and make themselves at home. And we don't want that. We want to kind of shake them up. And how it's possible to shadow— shatter, I'm sorry, how to shatter these walls and see them coming if they show up in a different form down the road. So our whole conversation, those internal glass walls, your rich question, that question I want you to hold on to throughout our conversation, and guaranteed our guests will probably address it and give you some ideas of what's going on and some tips and some advice for you. But if not, then you'll always have an opportunity to come to our Shedding the Bitch Facebook page or Twitter page. Deborah of Parker House Virtual Services of course she's out there should you have a question or a comment. And at the same time, as I introduce our guest after commercial break, I will make sure you have all of her contact information so you can reach directly into her. And stay tuned as well because she also has a nice gift for you. So your rich question would be, what wall, or maybe there's multiple walls, have you built up that you are sick and tired of and for once and for all you're determined to shatter them? So again, what is that one or more walls that you've built up that you're ready to shatter? Alright, now your rich tags for today, I want you to hashtag with us with #Unsabotage, which is our guest's main brand, Unsabotage, and #ShedTheBitch as always. All right, #unsabotage and #shedthebitch. Those hashtags are going to be very important as I announce later on in the show how you can win one of my free copies of my book as a kind of a birthday gift to you from me on my birthday. Okay, so what walls have you built up that you're determined to shatter? Let us take a quick break and come back and then dive into this conversation and introduce our guests. And let you shatter your walls. We'll be right back.

Welcome back everyone, we are talking shattering your glass walls. So let me introduce you to our guest. With a background in strategic marketing both at a Fortune 500 company and a creative agency, Ginny spent over a decade helping organizations of all shapes, sizes, and industries draw out their unique gold, as well as understanding areas in which they'd be holding themselves back in the marketplace. Can any of you relate to that? Then in her early 30s, when Ginny started to observe she was holding herself back from her own full potential, she focused all of her experience along with the tools and resources she had used to help organizations thrive and pointed them at herself. The result? A beautifully powerful, tested, and yet approachable model that helps women shatter the glass walls that have been holding them back so they can build the business of their dreams. Ginny and her husband Drew love spending time hiking, both in the redwoods or along the beaches near their North California home. Everybody, meet Ginny Townsend of UnSabotage. How are you, Ginny?
Hi, Bernadette. I'm doing really well. How are you?
I am fabulous, and I was so looking forward to this conversation because I resonated with it so much, not only from a corporate perspective, but actually shedding the bitch itself. So thrilled to meet you. Thrilled to meet you.
Yes, no, I'm great to be here. And I actually, I hope I'm the first person on your show to wish you a happy birthday. Yes, you are.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I appreciate that. I'm not shy, can you tell? Um, all right everyone, before we dive— yeah, pardon me?
Oh, I just said love it.
Yes. Before we dive into this, I want everyone listening, I want you to go to unsabotage.com and you'll learn all about, um, Ginny there. At the same time, her Facebook handle is Unsabotage. Her Twitter handle is @Unsabotage, and of course you can always LinkedIn with her, Ginny Townsend, and make note of her email actually. Do make note of her email right now because if that rich question that you have about what walls you've built up that you're determined to shatter, if you need more advice, more tips, you have more questions, you can reach out to her directly at Ginny@Unsabotage.com. Well, Ginny, like I said, I love this whole message that you have, but what exactly in your world, what exactly are glass walls and why should we care about them?
Right, no, it's such a great question. So glass walls, and you know, you touched on it in the intro, are these internal walls, these internal barriers that we've unintentionally set up in our own way, and they usually come into our lives through experiences, oftentimes when we're younger. I mean, our childhood is called our formative years for many reasons, right? But even as we're in high school or college or our first or second job out of school, they— I mean, these glass walls can enter really whenever. There's no kind of cap on when these glass walls enter our lives. But it is because they're internal, we have this ability that once we know to look for them, because everyone has them, that's the beautiful thing. There's no judgment or shame or anything. We all, you know, they're just kind of protective mechanisms. But once we have the ability to not only know we have them, but then also know where to look to find them, we can shatter them. I think there's just no other verb that better fits it. Just shatter them, and then that's when we can step forward and achieve that goal that maybe we've just always fallen short of achieving. Like, I've talked to so many women and my clients that that feel like they get to the 5-yard line, they're almost to the goal, and then something just keeps them from, from getting there. And it's like, oh, like you just ran into a glass wall, right? And like, exactly. So, so that's really how— what a, what a glass wall is and why we should care, right? Right.
And so give us an idea, based on your own story, how you discovered that they actually exist. Was it something that you actually went through yourself.
Yeah, so you alluded to it a bit, but we— so when I was running a creative agency here in Northern California, I was at this point where I was pursuing clients that were bigger than I'd ever pursued before. We were looking to expand our team, maybe even add a location. So they were all these things that were new and bigger than I'd ever worked on before. And so it's at this point usually when we find our glass walls. We have these kind of like safe areas where we feel like we can move around we don't really run into anything, but it's those expansion moments. So that's, that's what was happening in my own life, and I felt it was the first time I'd really felt myself running into something that I couldn't see. And I, I went through probably a month or two of vacillating between just being— my feelings were hurt, I didn't know what was going on, but then also being pretty scared. Wondering, hey, did I just reach my limit?
Did I—
have I gone as far as I'm able to go? And so I, you know, after about a month or so of that, I was like, this can't be. I have really big dreams. I want to do so much in life. There's no way that I have those dreams and this is as far as I go. So I actually started doing what I would do as an angsty teenager. And that was— I just started writing. I did not really know what I would— like, there was no real purpose at the beginning, at least. But I, I knew that it just— I had this intuitive sense that these barriers, that these walls were internal. I was not facing glass ceilings in this situation, like some of us do at times. So I just started writing and writing and writing. I had this daily ritual. I was like, well, maybe I can I'm going to stumble across what I need to find by doing this. And then after probably 4 or 5 months of doing that, I had this idea. And it was, we use this resource called a word cloud. I don't know if you or your audience are familiar with what a word cloud is.
I am. Go ahead.
Okay, great. And so for any of your listeners who may not know, it's a visual representation of how many times any given word is used in a piece of content. So if you just do a Google image search of word cloud, you'll be like, "Oh yeah, okay, I've seen those before." So we would use that tool as almost like an introduction for some of our findings as I was doing strategic branding with universities and cities, and these really big organizations. And so how we would give them kind of the title page to feedback we would get from their clients is we would put hours of transcripts in these word cloud generators. And so you could see at this really high level what these people are saying about this brand, right? So I was like, "Well, I have months of journaling. I wonder what would happen if I put my own words into this word cloud generator? What would I see?" And so I about fell out of my seat, Bernadette. It was astonishing. The words that were huge, totally surprised me, and then I had this thought of, "Oh my gosh, if these words are huge and I've been writing every day for 5 months, I bet I write about this every day." Right. I had one person's name was really huge. I had, you know, a couple of emotions feeling like I was— to be totally transparent with your audience— feeling like I'd been let out in the cold, you know, just kind of like left on my own in regards to a certain event that happened in my career. And so that— I was writing about that every day. So I was like, that was the first time that I realized, oh, maybe accessing our thoughts is more than just cathartic. Maybe we can actually discover more about ourselves as we, as we dig into our own thoughts. And then, yeah, so that's— that was really the tipping point where I just, I went full mad scientist on myself. I became my own guinea pig and just, I tried everything I could think of. I read all kinds of books and listened to all kinds of podcasts and watched videos and documentaries just learning about how the mind works, how thoughts affect us. And something that's really interesting, I love a good visual, oh, I love a good visual. So something that I read from a study published by the Cleveland Clinic a couple years ago was that the average person thinks about 60,000 thoughts a day. And of those thoughts, right? That's a lot of thoughts. Of those thoughts, we think 95% of those thoughts every day. So we will think them today, and we thought them yesterday, and we thought them yes the day before, and the day before, and we'll think about them tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after. If nothing changes. Isn't that incredible?
It is. So let me go back, let me take you back and drill into that a little bit and ask you a few questions. Sure. So, so when you were talking about, you know, you would just write every day, give, give the audience an idea of what that looks like so they know exactly kind of what is it that you're writing, um, and sure, you know, if it's something that they can benefit from.
Oh, definitely. So I would, I just set a timer on my phone and I turned my phone face down so I couldn't see how much time I had left. And I opened up a Google Doc and I would just write stream of consciousness, whatever came to mind. So there wasn't really a prompt. And I mean, I really wasn't sure what I was doing back then. Now I have guided prompts to help people figure it out, but I would just write and write and write. And there were some days that I felt so uplifted afterwards. And there were some days that it was just, I found myself like with my eyes burning, like I wanted to cry. So it was just this, it was a very organic, very like, let's just get it out there kind of a thing. So there was not a ton of structure, but I'll tell you just that ability to take a few moments, and that was first thing in the morning too. I would make my cup of coffee and go sit in front of my laptop. So it also really helped kind of clear the clutter of my mind.
So I was—
I also found a side benefit was I was able to focus more the rest of the day.
Yep, yep, love it. And then, um, this word— this word cloud generator, do you use that in your coaching business? Do you now use that to help others really see in their own writing, subconscious writing I call it? Kind of what their words are?
Yes, I do. So I have, I use some software online, and I'm developing my own, which is really exciting. And then I also have developed an analog way. So some people prefer to write, like in a physical journal versus typing. There's, you know, just something about that connection to pen to paper. So I've developed a way for them to do kind of a word cloud generator, but in an analog fashion as well. Right, sweet.
Because I do think it's important. I think what you're bringing up is it's very important to really understand, um, we talk a lot here about getting it out of your head and putting it on a piece of paper.
Well, so good.
Or onto a computer screen, whatever. But I think what you're adding to that is really highlighting kind of how we're truly talking to ourselves and what we're thinking, because sometimes We think that we aren't negative or we aren't hard on ourselves or down on ourselves, and yet if we just listen to our words, we'd recognize, you know, those negative, those detrimental, those damaging, those walls, as you discussed.
Exactly.
Exactly. And one of my good friends has this saying. She said, "A woman's mind can be like a bad neighborhood. You don't walk around there alone, otherwise you might get beat up." You know, so it's like we say so many things to ourselves that we would never, ever, ever tell our good friends, our sisters, you know, our colleagues. We would just never say anything like that to anyone else.
Right, right. No, that's a great analogy, an awesome analogy. Now you also talk about icebergs and elephants and how they can shed a lot of light on your glass walls. What in the world does that mean?
Oh, I'm so glad you asked that. So, actually going right back to the Cleveland Clinic study of us thinking 60,000 thoughts a day and 95% of those thoughts being below our conscious thoughts, like that below that conscious line, we are actually like icebergs. And I've read that sailors a few hundred years ago would think that icebergs were like black magic, because these sailors, they're being blown by the wind on top of the surface, but the icebergs appeared to go against the wind. You know, they would be going upwind, but it was because 90, like 95% of it was below the surface. That's really what the power and the movement of the iceberg was below the surface. And so, actually similarly, to the iceberg idea is the idea of an elephant, and it's actually an ant and an elephant. So let's say that there is an ant running, it is full-on sprinting on the back of an elephant, and that ant is running north, but the elephant that it's on is strolling south. You know, what direction do you think that that ant is actually going. I mean, it's going south. It's going the opposite direction that it wants to simply because what is under its feet is really where the movement is happening. I think it's a really good picture, I think, of just showing, especially with New Year's resolutions, right? We're still in January. 85% of New Year's resolutions fail by February. And I think, I think of it, I just have the sense that it's tied to that, that we're trying with our 5% of our thoughts to move this iceberg that is being pulled a different way below the surface.
Right. Wow.
Yeah.
And, and for someone, anyone who is visual, that is a great visual to just picture this little ant, uh, running in one, in one direction and a big-ass elephant strolling the other and It's a great visual to have if you are that type of person, because that does kind of scream like, "Help!
Turn around! Do something!" Right, exactly, exactly. That ant is doing everything it knows to do.
Right, right. Well, and if you're like me, let me ask you a question. You know, how often do you find that women kind of are comfortable not recognizing or not admitting or not confessing to those glass walls because, you know, they, they know what they know and that's where they're at currently and it's kind of comfortable for them. How often do you run across that when it comes to your clients?
That is such a good question. You know, I think what I've discovered is that sometimes there's these really early wins of being able to recognize the specific glass walls. And I can go into what some of those are, the more common ones. But then if there is, if there's no kind of plan to move forward with that glass wall in mind, it can be really intimidating because it's like now you know what what I'm air quoting, like the enemy looks like. You know, if you're battling against this thought, you know what it looks like, so you know it exists, first of all, so the threat is now more real. So if there's not a plan, it can leave people feeling that much more vulnerable, to be totally honest. And so what I have found is, I love this idea of this, the spiral of success. And I wish I knew who to credit that idea to, but that success is not a straight line up, it is more of a spiral. So what I have told my clients is, all right, so on this time around you have discovered your glass wall. You know exactly, like, um, for instance, one of the more common ones, especially for women, is that we feel the need to like wait for permission to pursue something. That we've never done before. So, all right, this time around, maybe we know that that's the glass wall that we're contending with. We shatter it, but as we go up the next level, the gla— that glass wall, that permission wall, can show up in a different way. But if we— first of all, it is empowering because we know it exists, first of all. But then if we have the plan, if we have—
I call—
we set up guardrails so we don't run into it. It becomes almost a non-issue. You just, you wave as you go by. You might have to say hello, get out of the way, but the effort at that point, once you know what it is, once you have the plan, it's so much less than even that first time around. But if there is not that plan, or if— There is also a quote, I want to say it's attributed to one of our presidents, I will actually post it on my social here really soon. I'll find it. And it's the idea of that if we knew the greatness that we were capable of, it would astonish us. So I also think it's something to do with like, oh, I'm safe, I know what I can do, I know what I'm good at. But then when I think we catch this glimpse of how amazing we actually are, how much authority we can have in our own areas of influence and how we can step in and make things better. I think if we feel like we're doing it alone, we're probably less— I don't know. There are, there are mavericks among us and I want to applaud those, but I know that we are, as women, we are pack animals, you know. We love moving forward together. I hope that answers your question.
No, it does. It does. Although my hair on my back of my neck went up because I agree, I agree that we love to move in packs, but boy, you know, I hope it— waiting until you, you know, have your pack to pursue what kind of makes your hair stand up because it's so exciting and although scary. Yes. You would just hope, and I know based on everything that you're working on, you, you know, you work to get your women past that because You know, you don't want to wait. You don't want to, you know, there's no perfect time. That's the one thing women have to learn too, is there's no perfect time to do anything.
But you—
exactly.
Let me make sure I understand a few things. So there's walls and then you have guardrails. And so can you kind of illustrate an example for us using kind of, okay, you work with a client, you've identified their walls being X, Y, and Z, and then you know, what kind of guardrails and what does that look like in order for them to then shatter those walls?
That's a great question. So let me use that permission example again, like waiting for permission. So once I discovered that, that was one of the earlier glass walls that I discovered in my own life. Um, so I've been, I've been kind of, you know, shattering that and upwardly spiraling past it.
For a while.
And so now what I do is we only really, if this glass wall resonates with you, we only really ask or wait like we need permission if we're trying something new or doing something bigger than we've done before. So when I do this and when I work with clients and they have the same glass wall, I say, "All right, so if you are pursuing something big right now that you have, that you have never done before, say someone's finally launching their book, they've never done this before, it's like, all right, know that that permission glass wall will probably try to show up. It, you know, it's just, it's something that is below the surface. And so knowing that once we're doing something big, it will really come back up, and then also having a plan. So even before I started working with other women, and I was just in my full guinea pig mode like I said, I would tell my husband, I'm like, "All right, you know, I'm working on launching X. If you feel like I'm holding myself back, remind me that I can give myself permission." So there's a couple parts of just one, knowing what it looks like, knowing the glass wall, and then it is so helpful having someone else in your life that is invested in your success. That will tell you, like, hey, I think you're, you're maybe you're starting to lose momentum. Are you waiting for someone to give you permission? So it can be as simple as that. But then also there can be really guided journaling during that time of that really big next step. So let's say launching that book, like just daily journaling, trying to make sure that you're not waiting for permission. And I have, I have those Guided prompts to get women started. It's usually just getting them started and then the genius of their own mind comes out, which I love. And that's been 100%, by the way. That's not just been a couple women. So that's what guardrails look like. First of all, knowing them, kind of knowing yourself enough, having other people that are invested enough in you, and then having that way to track your own progress as you move past the glass wall this time around. Right, right, right.
Cool. Well, and you know, to kind of illustrate it even further, I'll throw my— you know, I always throw myself under the bus. Oh, and since you brought up publishing a book, so I'm going to publish a book. My wall was rejection. You know, will this be rejected? Will anybody, you know, want it? And so your guardrails then— so that's my wall, right? So then the guardrails are, I did have a coach to kind of motivate me and move me along. I had an editor who kind of just built me up and told me. And then basically I had to look at, you know, so what? So if it's rejected, you know, some people will, some people won't, but the message is important. Is that kind of the realizations you want your clients to go through? It's kind of, yes, and so the next time you, you go through something that you're maybe launching and you, you're fearing rejection again, you already have been through that experience, so you have the tools and the guardrails to kind of move you along. Would that—
Exactly, exactly. And then even to get a little bit more granular, here is, here's a prompt, um, if anyone's facing this right now and wants to take immediate action They can say, "All right, why is this goal so important? So why is this book, why does this book really need to get out there?" So oftentimes because we have, as women have incredible hearts, right? We see how good things can be. If we can connect how we are a part of making the world a better place, making our world a better place, or our industry, whatever that is, it sometimes gives us the ability to really I don't want to say belittle the glass wall because I don't ever want anyone to feel like a struggle that they're facing is being belittled, but it just, it shrinks in stature, you know? Like once you see like, oh, this, no, this is actually me getting this book out there is so much more important than the risk of rejection, right? It's being able to connect.
Yes.
Yes. Yeah, awesome. But you're there to guide them to that realization because, like I said, you know, I, I do feel women kind of struggle acknowledging and confessing that, let alone to the— to you, but even to themselves, being that vulnerable. Yeah, right.
Yes, yes. Um, I think, you know, yeah, because there's that, that sense of we all have to be perfect, we have to be Superwoman or whatever. But then the thing is, I think We are superwomen, period, already.
Right.
And this is how we get further. This is how we can experience the life that we want, you know, achieve the goals that we want and help the people that we serve.
Right. Absolutely. Love it. Love it, love it, love it. Alright everyone, we're going to take a brief break but before we do, there's a couple of things. One, I want you to go to unsabotage.com. .com and check out everything about Ginny and her whole approach to shattering the glass walls. And you'll also learn about how you can gain one of my copies of my book, Shedding the Corporate Bitch: Shifting from Bitch to Rich in Life and Business. And you need to stay tuned though to how you can go about doing that as my birthday gift to you. Alright, so we're going to take a short break and we'll be right back.

Welcome, welcome, welcome back everybody. We are talking shattering your glass walls, those internal things that just get in our way. Unintentionally we set them, and our guest Jenny Townsend of UnSabotage is telling you how you can shatter them once and for all, and you can step forward into your greatness. Now, a few things. One, I want to let you know of a lovely gift that Ginny would like to extend to our listeners. It's an invitation-only access to her transformational course, Un-Sabotage Your Life. And Ginny, how about if I let you kind of explain what this is all about?
Yes, absolutely. Thank you, Bernadette Boas. So I have, based on my own experience and working with women one-on-one, I have developed this model that I think really is— it's broad enough and big enough for, I think, women regardless of the glass walls to walk through and to discover their own glass walls. And so the course is It has, it's 5 simple steps. I walk you through. I provide all of the prompts to get you started and all of the tools to help you distill what you, you know, what you wrote down to figure out exactly what your glass walls look like. So you can name them and then you can shatter them. Looks like the, well, I have videos online to go with every prompt. And you actually get a beautiful book in the mail. It's a tangible workbook that my clients have absolutely loved and treasured. And then actually, because this is still at the invitation level, anyone who joins the course will get some one-on-one access to me as well as weekly group Q&A calls. So we have you covered. Yes. We've got you covered.
That is— all right everyone, you heard that, you heard that. Invitation-only access to her transformational course, Un-Sabotage Your Life. And I'll just get a little bit more specific in saying that includes access to her model with guided activity, uh, the book she talked about, gain access to videos, gain access to her. That's unbelievable, and what a beautiful, beautiful gift. And also you can become a part of a beautifully supportive community of like-minded women. Thank you so much for that, everyone. Of course.
And can I, can I— oh yes, do you mind if I share where they can access, because this is invitation only, if, if you are listeners, go to unsabotage.com/letstalk. That's how you can schedule a time to meet with me, and I will, I will hook you up. Awesome.
So that's where they should go versus unsabotage.com/course?
Or actually, I can make that link available on that page as well. So either way.
Yeah, all right, let's do the Let's Talk. So unsabotage.com/letstalk, and you'll get directly into Ginny, and she will set you up. That is awesome, folks. If you don't take advantage of that, you're crazy.
And guess what?
We're only 23 days into the new year. You remember what I said at the top of the hour, you could be, you know, continuing and pursuing your goals, or you can hit the reset button right now. Um, but let also Ginny kind of be in your corner and to support you. And of course, of course, go to unsabotage.com and learn all about her and what she's doing. It's absolutely fantastic. All right, we have a lot more to talk about. Oh, don't let me forget to tell you Alright, if you want to celebrate my birthday with me by receiving a free gift and be one of 5 people who could get a free copy of Shedding the Corporate Bitch: Shifting from Bitch to Rich in Life and Business, my personal memoir and business book, then all you need to do is go out and post or tweet on Facebook or Twitter, our Shedding the Bitch pages please. And use #unsabotage and then do a shout out to Ginny and myself. And of course, if you use her handle @unsabotage, she will definitely get it. And then just use the handle #shedthebitch or Bernadette Boas along with the #unsabotage. You can even make a note in regards to the show and what you enjoyed there. And based on that, I'll reach back out to you or someone from the team like Deborah will reach back out to you, get your address, and we will send you an autographed copy of the book. First 5 people to do that, but we'll be doing this again next week as well. All right, let's get back to this conversation because we have a lot more I want to ask Ginny about. So Ginny, you've, you've compared contending with glass walls, and I love this, to boxing in the dark. So, can you expand on that idea?
Absolutely. So, it's another visual. I love my visuals. But, you know, I feel like that ant on the back of the elephant, it is doing everything it knows to do, right? Just like us when we have this goal that feels just slightly out of reach. We're just not sure why we're not hitting it. Having these glass walls and not knowing what they are, it's the lack of awareness about them, leaves us feeling like we're boxing in the dark. Dark. So we're, you know, we're doing the effort, we're trying to fight this, we're trying to figure it out, but because it's dark, we don't know the shape of our— who we're contending against or what we're contending against. We don't know how many there are. And so it's this— it can feel futile, it can feel like, oh, what is it, is it worth the effort, you know, like my arms are tired. You know, how much further can I go? You know, it can just feel futile or helpless to feel like you're contending against these alone and in the dark. So what I, like how I compare the UnSabotage model alongside this is it's turning on the lights. We're able to see those thoughts that are below the surface and be able to examine them. So it's like once you, you know, you already have your boxing gloves on, once the light is on, It's just one straight and true punch, and that contender is no longer fighting against you. So I love that picture.
Yeah, I love that picture too. You know, yeah, knock them out.
Knock, knock, knock them out. Yep, knock them out. Knock them out.
Okay, but all right, so, so again, creating that visual. So I'm there, I'm working with you, I've been journaling, I've been writing, you've been using your word cloud generator on my stuff, you're giving me guardrails. Once I'm there, how do we actually go through the process of knocking those walls down and knocking those sabotages down?
That's really, that's a great question. So, and it's a two-part answer. So one, more often than not, at least the initial time around, I have found that we as women intuitively know what to do, um, because we are—
it just—
I feel like I've, I've been shuttered to the core when I realized a glass wall in my life, and it's just like, oh my gosh, that is the thing. So when I— it makes everything come into focus, whereas it might have just been like an out-of-focus camera. You just see things so clearly. So one, oftentimes we intuitively, we just know what needs to be done. And it is, you know, a part of that is having the support just alongside you as you do that work. But then there is also the, actually the second half of the course. So there's 5 steps, and it's really the second half of the course is about shattering your glass walls and setting stepping into your greatness. So the— there is a little bit of letting go of hurt because oftentimes our glass walls are associated with people maybe speaking negatively to us or over us, or just we, you know, had these experiences that made us feel small. So once we realize like, wait, I've actually let this thing hold me back before, sometimes we need to at least set the intention of like I will not now take on anger, you know, that could potentially keep me back. But then it's also what we uncover in the first half of the course that it's where we discover our glass walls. We don't only just discover our glass walls. We discover what I call our unique superpowers or our goals. We discover what we are really good at. Sometimes it's something that we might have intuitively known before, or sometimes it's stuff we just— it's like the curse of genius or whatever. You just take it for granted. You assume everyone's able to do something as well as you can. But then the 4th step is actually called Unveil. We take a look at, "All right, so here are your glass walls, and here's what you are really good at." How can you use what you're really good at to make your glass walls obsolete or just no longer as big of a contender as you move forward? So it's very methodical. And then actually the final step is called Unleash. They all have "uns" because it's unsabotage, right? And so Unleash is, Unleash is putting together the plan and also this is where we, we tie in those guardrails of if I start slipping, if I start slowing down, or if I see the glass wall coming and I get anxious, here's the plan. You have it written down before you're in that situation. So you are really truly able to unleash and get past that glass wall and grow your business, have that breakthrough year, step into your— all of the goodness culminates in that last half. Of the course.
Nice. And give our, um, audience an idea of who you work with.
So I have found that early-stage women entrepreneurs experience incredible wins. So this can be— I mean, this can serve really, I think, any woman. I think any woman can learn about themselves and they can take action and they can make their life incredible and achieve those goals. But who I have really fallen in love with as far as being able to help them, because I'm also on the entrepreneurial journey, I just feel a real kindred spirit with early-stage women entrepreneurs.
Awesome. Now let me ask you a question, and, and anyone listening, don't slap me now. But I am going to ask this question. Do you find, do you find a difference based on one's age as far as, you know, willingness and openness and, and I guess the word willingness to actually face these things, face these walls and work to shatter them? Do you find a difference?
That is a great question and I am glad you asked. So I hope no one smacks you for that. So what I have found is in the ability to, I guess, acknowledge glass walls, I haven't really found anything that is true, like a true generalization for age. What I, here's the interesting thing that I found, and it, you know, as I have continued to see it, it makes sense, is that women maybe in their early 20s haven't quite hit a glass wall yet, at least that really truly affects them. Like there might have been a bump in the road, it might have been like a glass half wall, you know? But I'm certain that the tool will help them, you know, once they experience their first really big, like thick glass wall. But what I have found is late 20s and up, we've all experienced something that just kind of makes us shudder, that just calls us to question what we're doing, what we're meant for. And so I think once, once we have all experienced something like that, I feel like that's really the, probably the biggest differentiator in age. So what I have found, there may be personality types that are different that are maybe more like, "All right, I'm going to— this is mine. I'm going to shatter that wall." And then there are some that may just need to see it work before they put themselves out there that they are going to be going after this glass wall the next time they see it. So I think a lot of personality might have more to do with it than age. So I hope, I hope your listeners are encouraged that regardless of their age, we are able— like, our brains are beautiful. And I can, I can go on and on about this, but— well, and that's what changed.
Yeah, and that's— well, what I wanted to point out is what you kind of closed that out with, and that is, you know, I was probably 46, 47 before I really even understood, uh, to take time to really get to know myself. Uh, now I was incorporated versus being an entrepreneur like you're talking about, for sure. But, but then even as I started going out and speaking and whatnot, I just found that, you know, there's, there's women out there. And, and Ginny, you're so right that, you know, whether you're 25 or 55, um, what I learned from all of that is the fact that I wish I had Ginny as a resource when I was even 25, 30, 35, 40 to help me kind of take that look at myself and identify those walls because it might have saved— well, I know it would have saved years of just unknowing and facing and wallowing in those walls, and I would have shattered them with the guidance of UnSabotage, something like UnSabotage, so much earlier to where I am able and would have been able to really pursue my goals. That's not a regret for me, but all I'm saying is to reiterate what Ginny just said, and that is whether you're 25 or 95, taking advantage of Ginny's work and what she's learned and the type of experiences not only that she's had but her clients have had, you definitely want to do that because, you know, better now than never, and it's never too late to do it either. Yeah, love it.
I just love what you're doing. Well, thank you, Bernadette. That means a lot. Thank you.
You're very welcome. And I do want to remind you all, go to unsabotage.com/letstalk, and that's going to send you directly to Ginny, and she is going to extend to you an invitation-only access to her transformational course, Un-Sabotage Your Life. Now I want to reiterate what that encompasses because being a fellow coach and whatnot and talking to a lot of experts out there, access to her, you get access to her and this is very limited by the way because it is her invitation-only access at this point and then I'm sure she's going to be changing that. So she's offering complete access to her UnSabotage Model with guided activity to help you uncover your glass walls. You'll receive a beautifully printed workbook in the mail. Guess, guess what? Who doesn't love to receive mail, right? Yeah, yeah. You'll gain access to her videos that guide you through the process. You'll have access to her, like I said, both group calls and one-on-one calls. And then A beautiful complement to all of this is you'll become a part of her beautifully supportive community of like-minded women to help you shatter those walls and step forward into your greatness. We have about another minute or so. Any last tidbits of advice, tips, anything for our listeners?
Mm, well, I think I will go back to that thought that I wish I could attribute to which president it was. But the, the thought that I would love to leave with your audience is if you knew the full level of greatness inside of you, you would be astonished. I'm sure it would stop you in your tracks. And I know your world will be even more beautiful when you own that greatness, when you step into that greatness. So if I am able to be a part of your journey, helping you to shatter glass walls, I would be honored. Either way, let's stay in touch.
