A Spiritual Reset for the New Year - #26
30 Dec 2025 · 30 min
Betsy Guerra leads a guided, workshop-style podcast episode aimed at helping listeners reflect on their 2025 and prepare spiritually and practically to "manifest" 2026 in partnership with God. The episode walks listeners through concrete exercises—making a year timeline, highlighting accomplishments, gratitude practice, forgiveness (including self-forgiveness), identifying what to let go, silence/listening to the Holy Spirit, and nightly visualization homework—and closes with program promotion and CTAs.

Manifesting is co creating with God. It's building the life that he created you to live because you have him inside of you in the form of the Holy Spirit. You have an indwelling God. You're one with God. You're in a new city and you're visiting a friend, but you have no idea how to get to his house. So you pick up the phone and you call him and you're like, hey buddy, how do I get to your house? What do you think his answer is going to be? Where are you at right now? In order to give you directions on where to go, your friend needs to know where you're at. So then you look around and you're like, oh, I'm in an expressway with three lanes and trees and there are no signs. So you have no idea by what exit, you have no idea what's the name or the number of that expressway. You're lost. So then your friend asks you, okay, where were you before? Oh, I was at the airport. Okay, when you left the airport, what did you do? Oh, I took a 36 west and I went towards Doral, Florida and I got off on the Palmetto North. And at that point, you know, more or less your friend could be like, okay, you went west, you went north. Okay, so you must be around this area in the Palmet heading north. Can you keep on moving forward and see what the next exit is? Okay, it's exit xyz, right? Like so you tell them the exit now. Now your friend knows exactly where you're at. If you're headed north or south, he has enough information to guide you and give you directions on how to move forward. Well, we are about to end the year 2025, and as 2026 approaches and we have big dreams to reflect on, to visualize, to be excited about. We have a house, a home that we're wanting to get to, or a kingdom that we're wanting to build. But in order to know how to get there, we must reflect on where are we at. And many times we need to look back at where we've been and how we've gotten here. So that can give us guidance on what remains. Where are we at exactly? And what needs to happen right now? What is our next right step in order to fulfill the journey to the destination that we envision and are dreaming about. So looking back is important when we're looking ahead to manifest and co create with God the life that he created us to live. So that's what I want to do with you today. I want to reflect on your 2025, and in order to do that, we're going to do something different. Today is not going to be about me teaching and speaking and all these other stuff that I usually do. Today is going to be like a workshop. So I invite you to go grab pen or pencil and a notebook or journal somewhere where you can write down reflections on what we're going to be discussing. Because it's going to be just for you today. And if possible, I invite you to just disconnect from any distraction. If you are driving or walking or you're unable to take notes, that's okay too. You can still pause the podcast and reflect about it in your mind and just maybe even visualize it at a deeper level so you can really, really, really create a vision that then we can manifest in the new year. Because in January, I am going to teach you how to manifest the year that you dream about. But we must dream it first. And before dreaming it, we must look back to see where we're at and how we got here. Okay, so let's do that. Grab your pen and pencil, pause me real quick so that you can be prepared or just get in the right state of mind. We can invite the Holy Spirit in to illuminate your mind so that you can remember the important things about 2025, and so that he can help you see your year the way he sees it. Because nothing is a mistake in life and nothing is wasted. And this year that you just experienced was preparing you for what's to come, which is unlocking your greatness. 2026, my friend, is the year that you unlock your greatness. That you listen to God's callings for you and you step into it with purpose. No more procrastinating. No more getting comfortable, no more dwelling on what hasn't been, and no more getting caught up on the hardships and the adversities. It's our time to dream. And I'm going to dream with you. Okay? 2026 is the year that I manifest and co create, so. So I'm sharing that energy with you and I am hoping that it will bless you and get you excited about what's to come. Okay, so the first thing that we're going to do now that you have your pen and pencil or pen and paper, is we're going to go over our camera, roll our calendar or any or your journal. Maybe you're going to go back and make a list of all the events, activities, experiences, accomplishments, challenges, like everything that you can think of. That happened this year, places you visited, moments you have with your family or your loved ones, little accomplishments, bigger accomplishments, pains, adversities, hardships, just write it all down. So pause me for a second and, and just take your time to do that. That could be a live document. So leave some space so that you can come back every time you remember something and include it there. Okay, so I hope you paused me and you did that part and now we're going to look at that list and we're going to highlight or put a check mark next to it or whatever works for you, all the accomplishments because I'm sure sometimes we focus on like oh my gosh, I didn't get to finish the book I said I was gonna do or I didn't accomplish this or I said I was gonna lose X amount of weight and I only lost half of that or none. Sometimes we focus on what didn't go well or maybe there was hardship and pain and that suffering is all encompassing and very self centered. So it's hard to look at the big picture when there's hardship because usually our minds, and I've explained this in previous podcasts that the Velcro Teflon theory of the mind that says that the mind is wired to immediately capture what is negative, it sticks like Velcro and what's positive slides like Velcro on Teflon, I'm sorry, like butter on Teflon. So what happens is we naturally look at what didn't work in our year and today we are going to intently focus on what did go well and the little accomplishments, the progress, the things that did work out for us and maybe we even get to reframe and change the perspective with which we're looking at some that didn't seem to work out. Like what did you learn from that? What were the lessons? Where was the growth? Where was God? Maybe everything fell apart, but your relationship with God is intact and better than ever because you have just held on to him and you've felt his embrace and you've, you've gotten to know the peace that surpasses all. Understanding that is a big accomplishment some that the majority of humanity are hungry for. What are your accomplishments? Pause me and just highlight, check, acknowledge the accomplishments and the positive things of your year. Okay, so now that you have focused on that, and by the way, if you want to pause me again, I invite you to not just not just think about the or acknowledge the things that were good, but maybe take a moment to close your eyes and take a deep breath and just, like, feel into them. They say the Velcro Teflon theory of the mind. When they came up with that theory, they said that in order for the positive to, like, stick like Velcro, we need to sit with it for 15 seconds. So pause me for 15 seconds. One Mississippi, two Mississippi. And just enjoy and indulge in all those accomplishments. Just feel gratitude, feel joy. Imagine that person that made you smile or that you made smile and that made you happy. And just take it all in. Just take it all in. Okay, after 15 or 30 or 45 or 60 seconds, come back. And now let's reflect on, like some of these questions. By the way, I am going to get some of these questions from the Year Compass. So if you go to year compass.com I have nothing to do with them, but I find their tool to be really good. It's fascinating to go through this journey so. So yearcompass.com has a free downloadable worksheet where you can go into details on this reflection of 2025 and moving forward to 2026. Again, I have nothing to do with them, but I love it. And everything that I love I share with you. So I hope it serves you. So now you get to reflect on what do you feel most proud of? Who are the three people that blessed you or influenced you or supported you the most? Who are the three people who you supported or influenced the most? What were you not able to accomplish this year that you really wanted to? What is the best thing you've discovered about yourself? We get to know ourselves all the time, every day. New things with new experiences. So what did you learn about yourself this year? What did you learn about yourself that you don't necessarily love and that you maybe considered to working on moving forward? What do you feel most grateful for? And I invite you to take a moment to take this one in. Like, what are the. The images, the words, the people, the experiences that show up when you think, what am I grateful for this year? What were some of the greatest challenges or obstacles this year? How did you do in the surrender department this month? We've spoken about surrender, and I believe that in order to take on full throttle the year 2026, we first get to surrender what we have no power over and consent to the presence and action of God within us. So that the vision and the dream and the desires that we pursue and decide to manifest wholeheartedly don't come from our human self, from our ego, from our limitations, but rather are inspired, divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit. How have you done in the surrender department? Like is is there still work to do in like letting letting God be the one to guide even your dreams. I gift you this one of one of my prayers or mantras. I think I got it from Wayne Dyer, so I want to give him proper credit. I'm pretty sure it was him is Let yout will be my desire, Lord. So every time I pray and I want to dream or envision something or manifest something, I first ask him, let your will be my desire. Like the thing that I dream about that I'm excited about. Let that be what you will for me rather than what the ego, what the human side of me is willing for myself. Quick interruption Just to let you know that if you're ready to rock 2026 and you want to do that by unlocking your greatness, stepping into your purpose, leaving a legacy, making an impact, and becoming a better version of yourself, I get to support you at the Faith and Growth Program. Just go to talktobetsy.com and book a call to get started. I love you. Happy New Year. Back to the episode. So Surrender is about inviting God into your life and living a guided life, taking guided action and guided steps to fulfill the dreams he dreams for you. So how are you doing with Surrender? How have you done with Surrender this year and what can you do better? And if you haven't listened to the Surrender podcast, you're missing out. Seriously missing out. So please go to the it's during December, so go back to the first couple of episodes in December, actually the first and the third and you enjoy that. December 2025 okay, so now that we have reflected on what was this year about, what did we accomplish? Who did we connect with or disconnect from? Like when you reflect on that now it's time consider who has hurt you or how have you hurt yourself? Have you procrastinated? Have you self sabotaged? Did you end the relationship that was good for you? Did you not end the relationship that is not good for you? It's not just about who do you need to forgive, who's hurt you. It's about also how have you hurt yourself? So reflect. Take again, let's pause and let's take a moment to reflect on who are you holding grudges or resentment towards and in which ways have you failed or had a hard time forgiving yourself because you've hurt yourself. So just take a moment to reflect on who do you need to forgive and if it's you, what about you? Do you get to forgive. When I did this exercise, I, I found this one to be particularly fascinating because I. This was the year. And I share this in another podcast, the one on forgiveness. This was the year that I, that I experienced deep forgiveness. Something that I've never really had trouble with. I've, I've never been a resentful, you know, person who holds grudges, but I had been, I have been throughout the past couple of years. So my first thought was like, oh, this year was the year I forgave this person that I felt hurt by. And then when I looked a little deeper, I realized that there was so much I needed to forgive myself for. This year I struggled a lot with making myself too busy and too overwhelmed. And I have worked really hard in my life to practice silence, solitude and stillness, to be present, to not over commit, to learn how to say no. That's something that I've been learning for years. And I feel like this year something happened that I fell back into the old habit of busyness and over commitments and, and overwhelm. And I was, you know, there was a little bit of shaming myself. Like, you should know better by now. You teach this. You, you've done so much work on this. Like. And I, and by the way, the practice of shaming myself was also an old habit. I don't, I've chosen, I've decided. I don't, I don't engage with shame like when, when those thoughts come up, I've decided I'm no longer going to engage with them or believe them because I don't think shame comes from God. And it's the lowest, vibrating, the lowest frequency of the emotions we like when you, when you're, when you shame other people or shame yourself, you are, you're vibrating. Your energy is like very, very low. It's a very low frequency emotion. And we know that what happens when you're at a low frequency is you attract things that are also at the low at that low frequency. And shame is like bottom of the totem. So when I learned that I no more shame doesn't come from God. That's not how he, he disciplines or teaches us or he teaches with love. So I decided I'm not engaging with shame. And when I was reflecting on what did I need to forgive this year, I realized that I had engaged with shame again and that I had allowed myself to get busy and not be present and feel overwhelmed and overcommitted. So what is that for you? What is it that you fell back into doing after you worked so Hard to overcome that or to not, you know, live that way. So reflect on that and write down the things that you get to forgive yourself for. And maybe pause me again and say a little prayer, do a short meditation and. And just ask God for the grace of forgiveness. Lord, I take a moment to present my friend to you and ask that you please grant this person that you have in front of you the grace of forgiveness. May you forgive yourself. May you love yourself. May you see yourself through the eyes of God and recognize that the good thing is that you are aware and you took this time, this moment, to realize that you had fallen into old habits or unhealthy habits that don't serve you and are not part of the highest version of you that God created you to be. So my prayers are with you. I send you all my love. I am with you. I am you. I also experienced this. Together, we're going to forgive those who hurt us, and we're going to forgive ourselves for those times in which we weren't our best selves. We're going to do that, and then we're going to reflect on what we get to let go of. Maybe you don't feel like you need to forgive yourself for being too busy, because maybe you haven't yet become fully aware that you created that or the thing that you're feeling right? Like, maybe you've been in a funk like I was at some point this year, or you've been a little entitled, or you've been too controlling and struggling with surrender. And you know, you don't feel like you need to forgive yourself for that, but you do believe that it will prevent you from moving forward. So. So what are you going to let go of in regards to 2025 so that you can step into your greatness during 2026? So take a moment, pause, and write a whole list of things that you get to let go of. When I did this exercise, I let go of fear, busyness. Sometimes I struggled with trust. I didn't see that I was getting the outcomes that I was working so hard for. So for moments, I was very human. And I was like, God, is it not coming? Is there something I need to do extra? So then I fell into wanting to control rather than surrender. And I'm letting go. I'm letting go of controlling what I have no power over. I'm letting go of planning what according to my will, rather than consenting to God's will and dream for me so that I can then pursue that. I'm letting go of the fear of things not happening the way I want them to or when I want them to. I'm letting go of busyness. I've been really, really busy. And I. Oh, my gosh. I hate when my friends or a family member or someone calls me and tells me or texts me and says, I know you're really busy, but I wanted to ask. I'm like, no, I don't want to be the really busy person, But I have been. I have been. It's not who I want to be. It's not the identity I want to connect with, but that's what I've been. I'm letting go of that. So I have an abundance of time. I have all the time in the world for the things that matter, for the people who matter. And I am stepping into that identity in 2020. Let go of this identity that hasn't served me. So what are you letting go of? Okay, so now that you've done that, now you get to take a moment of silence and just listen. Listen and silent have the exact same letters. Listen and silent. Silence is the language of God. And when you take a moment to tune out, like to just let go of the noise of the world and you practice silence to listen to the word of God, which is subtle and soft and kind, then he will inevitably speak. He's always speaking. The question really is, are you listening? So let's take a moment. I tell you to be silent, and I keep talking. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Okay, so pause me and take a moment of silence to just listen. Okay, I don't want to make this too long, so I am going to pause right here, but I'm going to give you a homework for our next episode of Me Alone next week, we're going to have a guest, but I'm going to. I'm going to stop right here and ask that you for homework. You. You dream every night when you go to sleep and you say your prayers and you talk to God and you know, you're in bed and you're relaxed, that you. That you intently choose to visualize. 2026. What moments come up? What images? What experiences? Who are you with? What holy moments are you creating with your loved ones? Just take a moment to experience with all of your senses. Smell yummy food from your mom or your grandma or your partner or whatever yummy food you like. Maybe it's a restaurant. Who are you with having that experience touch the people that you're with? Look at their clothes. What are they wearing? How do they look. How are they wearing their hair? Just use all of your senses. Feel, touch, smell, listen, look like all of it. Because the more you use your senses, the more real it feels for the subconscious mind. And right before you go to sleep is when you're most relaxed and when your subconscious mind is ready to go. Because your conscious mind is going to go to sleep with you, but your subconscious is in charge of your breathing and your heart beating so that one's awake all day long. We're going to feed the subconscious with dreams and visions and desires and plans and things that you're excited about and you look forward to and maybe you don't think it's possible, but you, but you believe and you trust and you understand that manifesting is not about creating for yourself or like something woo woo that you put out in the universe. Manifesting is co creating with God, is building the life that he created you to live because you have him inside of you in the form of the Holy Spirit. You have, you have an indwelling God. You're one with God. If you tap into it, you can create the life of greatness that he designs you for. So my invitation is that after reflecting on where are you coming from, how did you go from the airport to where you're at when you called your friend? Like when you reflect on that and you have a better idea as to where am I right now? I am, you know, I had a hard time with surrender. I was in a funk all year, like for a few months out of the year. I experienced scarcity and I'm, you know, abundance is a big value of mine but I felt scarce and I felt like lack and I was afraid and I got busy. But that's where I came from. That's the journey that I took from the airport to where I'm at, where I'm at as I end 2025 isn't a. Is in a really great place of surrender and grace and trust and faith and just like there's no fear, there's, there's just trust. I've done so much work, so much work, my goodness to be here. And I reflect on my year and I feel like a little sad because it was a hard year for me, but it was also so beautiful and I feel so good right now because I was able to leverage and take advantage of the hardships and the obstacles. I didn't just believe them or engage with them. I engaged with them many times. But in general I knew I couldn't accept that as my reality. I was created for greatness, as are you. You, my friend, were created for greatness. So if you lived anything short of greatness this year, anything short of peace and joy and success and just awe. If you didn't have a year of awe, watch out. 2026. Here we go. This is your year to unlock greatness and I am excited to accompany you, to support you and to witness your success. Because you, my friend, were mindfully and willfully created to God's image and likeness. And you have the living power of God within you to create the life that you desire. So dream every night with a vision of your 2026 and all the moments that you want to experience. And thank 2025 for all the beautiful experiences, all the successes and the lessons that are equipping you for the life that's to come. I love you. Happy New Year. Many, many, many, many blessings.
