Bill from Beyond Fitness Online shows how biting down hard on a paper towel between your teeth during any flexion movement—arm curls, leg curls, crunches, forward bends—can improve neck stability and range of motion. The intense bite stimulates a nerve that stabilizes your whole body.

Hi, I'm Bill from Beyond Fitness Online. Today I want to show you a trick that will help you build more stability through the neck and the spine, allow you to get better movement in any flexion movement that you're doing, and help to create more stabilization and balance and even impact the vestibular system. What we're going to do is we want to use basically anything that's a flexion movement because this is what's going to impact that the most. So it can be an arm curl, leg curl, Crunches, whatever you're doing. I'm going to use a forward bend just to show you. So my normal forward bend gets me about to the tips of my toes. I'm going to use a paper towel. I'm going to stick that in between my teeth to protect my teeth, but I'm going to bite down really hard and try this again. So as you can see, that gets to be quite a bit better, and all because we're stimulating a certain nerve, and that helps to get everything going up here. Which allows the entire body to move better. Give this a try, let me know how it works for you, and follow me for more tips and tricks just like these.
