Hi, I'm Bill from Beyond Fitness Online. Today, I'm gonna show you some variations on the core exercise called the dead bug. Now, all you need for these variations are a band or a partner, and you just need some resistance that's gonna be pulling on you in different directions. Now, if you don't know what the dead bug is, I'm gonna show you that here in just a second. But the reason that this is such an important exercise is That you want to be able to create variety in your workouts. If you're doing the same thing all the time, your brain is going to get used to it and you're not going to gain as much out of it. The dead bug exercise is a great way to put yourself in a safe position because you're on the ground and it allows you to really work on coordination of right upper body, left lower body, and vice versa. So anything like that's similar to the walking gait. If you have any kind of balance issues, trouble walking, this is a great exercise for you. And then you start to add the variations in to challenge yourself in different ways. It's a very easy setup. All you need is some floor space, and I'm going to show you this right here. To do the dead bug, you're going to lay on your back and put your legs at a 90-90 position. Your arms are straight up in the air. You're going to extend one arm up over your head while extending the opposite leg out in front of you. Then you're going to return back to the starting position and alternate sides. Now, to make this more challenging, you can add a band. You can do 1 band or 2, and you can put it in the arms, and you can continue the same motion, either switching the band or keeping it on one side. In this position, I have the band pulling from behind my head. You can also switch the band to be in other directions, such as right here where the band is pulling off to the side. In this case, it's pulling to my right. I do the same thing, only in this case I have one band in my right arm and that's it. There are many variations you can do with this. Hope you found that interesting. This is a great exercise to really improve your vestibular system, to improve your coordination and your cerebellum, which also works very closely with the vestibular system, and can really change the way that your core engages as you move. So give this a try. Let me know in the comments below how this went for you. And until next time, live healthy.
