Hi, I'm Bill, owner of beyondfitnessonline.com, and if you're new to my channel, please don't forget to hit the logo right here and hit subscribe. That way you'll get all my updates every week. So today what I want to show you is 3 really quick and simple eye relaxation techniques that you can do That will lower your stress. I'm a little stressed out, to be honest. So if you want to know more about the anatomy of the brain and stuff, check out this video here and you can get a little background on that. But basically what happens is the nerve that controls the eyes, that sends the vision back into the brain, sometimes just needs to be relaxed. When we're seeing lights all the time and we're seeing computer screens all day, Sometimes the eyes get so strained and exhausted and that nerve is just overstimulated, and that in itself will elevate our stress levels. So what we need to do is the simplest thing you could think of. You're going to cup your hands like this. You're going to cross them over your eyes with your eyelids closed. Now let me preface this by saying we're not pressing on the eyes. We're leaving a little bit of space, but the eyelids are closed. The hands are over in crisscrossed fingers. And you just try to relax and go into your belly breathing. You're going to want to hold that for about 30 to 60 seconds. If you want to know more about belly breathing, check out this video here. So here's what happens. That's going to reduce the activation of the nerve which goes into the area that is where the stress response begins. So if we can slow that down, then the stress response will slow down. Now, the other things you can do are rapid blinking like this. Again, 30 to 60 seconds of rapid blinking, not staring at a light or anything bright, just getting that because that resets your vision. The third thing I can show you today is what's called eye massage. Now, we're going to massage around the eye. Now, it's really important that you do this very, very gently. You're going to take 1 or 2 fingers and you're going to go right above the eye on the bone, and you're going to feel around right at the bottom of that bone, and you'll find a nice little ridge. And where that ridge is, is where you're just going to lightly massage. You could do both sides at the same time if you want. Okay, but you're going to go above, you're going to go on the bone right below, again looking for a ridge. You're going to go right out here where the corner of the eye is here, the corner of the eye here. And then you can also start to play around with over to the outside on the bottoms. Doing that with your eyes closed and gently massaging for, again, 30 to 60 seconds in each spot will reduce the amount of stress and stimulus that's being sent to the midbrain, and that should in turn lower your blood pressure and help your stress.
