Your inner ear detects head movement while your eyes track the world around you. When either system misfires, your brain locks muscles in your neck and lower back to compensate, causing tension and pain. The VOR drill helps restore the connection between these systems.

Now we're going to do the VOR drill. That stands for vestibulo-ocular reflex. What does that mean? Well, your vestibular system is your inner ear balancing system, and that tells your brain which way gravity is pulling you and how you are moving in relation to gravity. Now, your eyes do that as well. Your eyes tell you which way you're moving based on how the world is moving around you, and the visual system and the vestibular system work very closely together to tell your brain how you're moving, keep you balanced. Now, if those aren't working well, your brain is going to start to lock up certain muscles like in your neck and lower back, particularly anything along the spine. So we want to try and fix that problem if there's an issue there.
