Construction pros struggle to pick the right software because vendors oversell and past bad experiences breed skepticism. The fix: demand live demos of your actual workflows instead of listening to pitches, and count the clicks to see if it really works.
You already mentioned that construction professionals have the memory of an elephant and they remember bad first tries with technology maybe 10 years ago that makes them hesitant to embrace technology now. Are there any other challenges that you've observed in this relationship besides general mistrust?
Mainly the one is identifying the things that you need and then understanding that the software can do it. So one of the early on ones that we taught folks and I still teach them today is show me, don't tell me. So when you do a process map and you understand the requirements you have for any type of software, you sit down with your people who are showing you it and you're asking them if it does it and they say it does it then you ask them to show you because if it's 12 clicks to do what you're asking and right now it's not that slow. It's not a good answer. Show me how my workflows are going to go. Show me how this is going to experience.
