Most AI startups entering home services come from MBA and consulting backgrounds with little understanding of contractors. The ones that survive will be the few built by people who actually know field professionals and their real problems.
I think one is there's going to be a lot of AI startups that enter this market that do not understand home services people or contractors in general. And they're people with MBAs and really good degrees, or they're coming from investment banking or consulting or private equity, and they see home services as an edgy market. They're like, let's go build a product for it. That's going to happen. There'll probably be 20 or 30 of those by this time next year. On the flip side, I think there's going to be the companies that really understand contractors and home services professionals in general, and they're only building things that they are hearing as pain points and that they're getting feedback on from customers.
