Release Note Scavenger Hunt: Searching For A Lamb

Richard Coburger hunts for a live lamb to photograph for a software release called Lamb by Service Titan. He calls farms, visits petting zoos, and documents the absurd quest for a thumbnail photo.
I've got to do something about this quarantine. Here, look, I can put it in my mouth. That's not normal. What's going on, everybody? It's Richard Coburger, the blue collar nerd. So if you're new here, I used to make videos about a software called Servicetitan and I still do. It's just that now I'm doing that directly for Service Titan. One of the types of videos that I make is release notes. Going over what's new with that software. Now, externally, like what everybody sees in the release notes, Service Titan just assigns every release a number. So it's like STS, ST42, ST43, etc. But internally they actually have names. And I was thinking that this could help me solve a problem of mine. See, a very important part of every YouTube video is the thumbnail, that still picture that you see before you click the video. And the thumbnail needs to be interesting. It's what convinces somebody to click on your video. And with release Note videos, I've always kind of struggled as to what to make the thumbnail. Normally I just use a picture of myself looking real excited, something like or. But I don't know, that's just getting kind of boring. So this is gonna be a series where I make it my mission to go out and take a picture of myself with or somehow involving whatever the release is named after for the thumbnail of the release note video. And this next release is called Lam. So I need to go find myself a lamb and take a picture with it. Alright, so first order of business, I think I'm just gonna try and leverage my network. So just gonna put a post out on Facebook here. Due to circumstances, I need to find a live lamb. Does anyone know where I might find one? And then we fix all our typos so no one realizes we're stupid and post. Okay, we'll see what that does. What else can we do? I guess just look for sheep farms, right? Like sheep farm, Georgia. Local sheep farms, Georgia. Have you heard? All right, I mean, there's this location finder. They're showing some in Marietta, which isn't too far from me, but I think it's just a P.O. box. So I need an actual farm. Aiken, Dahlonega. I mean, it'll be a drive. Let's see, we raise registered Poly Pay and Hampshire sheep for breeding stock and slaughter lambs. I don't want to take a picture with a slaughter lamb. I don't think I could look in its little lamb eyes knowing its Fate. That might be the only choice though. Like, do people have lambs for any other reason? See georgalam.com? little on the nose, but we'll give it a shot. This one has a phone number. It's after five. How late does sheep farmers answer the phone? I don't know. What do I even say if they answer? Like, how do I explain myself? Like, yes, hi, I'm not interested in giving you any money or doing business with you in any way. I really just want to take a picture with one of your lambs and leave. Probably a better way to word that, right? I don't know. I'm winging it.
Hello?
Hi, is this the lamb farm? Peep farm?
Yes, this is John Adam, Georgia lamb.
Hey, John, how are you? I'm a photographer. I need to, for a certain project, get a picture of a lamb. And I was wondering if that was something that you guys could help me figure out.
Yeah, I've got some young lambs out there with their moms. I've got about 10 out there right now.
Okay. Is it okay if I got kind of close to them? Is that okay?
You can. I've been feeding them every day, so they tend to hang out up there near where I feed them and stuff like that. If I was to put feet out, they'd be pretty close. You'd be welcome to try.
All right, so I, I could just swing by. Do I need to let anybody know that I'm coming or.
Yeah, we schedule it.
When you want to come by.
I'll be there this weekend.
All right. It's like Saturday afternoon.
Yeah, Saturday. Saturday afternoon would be fun.
Perfect. Hey, I appreciate it.
The address is Casein Pond. Cason Pond Road. I don't really have an exact address for you where they are. Dirt road. It's just a big open field, but the, the sheep, the lambs are right there in the first pen. And you know, it's a, it's a. It's like a 30 acre field, but it got probably, you know, a couple hundred feet of road frontage right there that hopefully they'll be up nearby. So you can just kind of open the gate and go in and get a picture of.
That's all I need. That's perfect.
Okay, send me a message or something on Friday or Saturday just to remind me and I'll text you. I'll try to drop a pin for you and send you address.
All right, I really appreciate that. Richard.
Richard. Okay, thanks, Richard.
All right. Yes, sir. Thank you. That was so easy. I mean, I'm not a photographer so I've got a fancy enough looking camera. He'll believe me. I just can't take it with my phone. Alright, let me just save that number in my phone. I'll call him. Lamb Bam. Thanks brother. You know, I did not look at where this place is. I mean it's a farm so I expect it to be far. I just hope it's not too bad. I'm not seeing anything on the website. Gave me a road but I like barely heard it. Like Cayson Pond or something. That's not pulling anything up. Basin Pond, Cason Pond. Oh, it's two hours away. Two hours is a lot. I mean I could do one hour. I don't know about two hours. It's two hours either way. That's four hours of driving. Crap. I'm gonna keep looking. Alright, here's another one. Lesson learned. We're gonna look it up where it is first before we call them, alright? 1130 Thompson Road, Meansville, Georgia. Never heard of it. Hour and 50 minutes. That is not much better. Does anyone say anything on Facebook? Actually yeah, I might have a lead. Alright, I'm keep researching. I'm going to cut the camera but I'm going to keep researching. I'll keep you updated. Alright, so things are not looking amazing right now. On my Facebook post I did think I had a lead but it turns out it was for adult sheep and not a lamb and that's just not going to work. It's got to be a lamb. All my other leads were either just really bad jokes that weren't even told properly or they just sounded extremely sketchy. And I really don't want to make that two hour drive, especially since like nothing's guaranteed. Like I could get there and the guy doesn't show up or I could just never find it because it's not like a place that's on Google Maps. So today I'm gonna try a new strategy. I'm gonna look for like petting zoos. Alright, we got mobile petting zoos. Yellow River Game Ranch. I've heard of that place. I think that's like a. Like a mini zoo basically. But they're marked as temporarily closed. Probably because of this illness that's going around, but I don't know. It's worth a shot. Let me give them. Not figured out a better way to explain this yet by the way.
ATL01. Your call cannot be completed or dialed or the number has been disconnected. Please check the number and dial again or call your operator to help you Hang on.
That was the number off Google Maps, which doesn't match the website. So let me try the website number.
Hello?
Hi. Is this yellow? Hello?
Yeah, you got him.
Hey. Yeah, I know you guys are temporarily closed right now, but I am a videographer, and I'm working on a project that I need to get a video of a lamb for. I was just wondering if maybe that was something you guys could help me out with.
We don't.
We don't actually have a ram here.
Right now, believe it or not. So.
A lamb? A baby sheep.
Oh, a lamb. Yeah. No, I thought he said a ram. Yeah, that's. That's possible. Get this number. We're kind of in the middle of.
Something right now, but.
404.
Okay, hang on one second. All right, 404.
I'm sorry.
We've got.
We've got a huge project going on right now where we need all hands on deck. The phone number is 4.
0.
And give me about an hour.
No problem. Thank you so much.
Thank you.
All right, bye.
Bye.
I really want to know what I just interrupted. Something got loose. That lady was frantic and out of breath, like she was chasing something. Come on, you little devil.
Come on.
Get back in there. Get back in there. Jacob. Jacob, get off the phone. What are you doing? Okay, I could have sworn that call ended, but I just heard some static and saw the call still active. And I just did. I just did that bit, like, really loud. And I said all the stuff about the lady. Ch. Maybe they didn't hear me. Maybe they didn't hear it. Alright, well, they said to call back in an hour, so I'm gonna try some other places in the meantime. Plus, I probably blew that one, let's be honest. So let's try Tanglewood Farm Miniatures, 46 minutes away. That I can handle.
You've reached the information line for Tanglewoods miniature and heritage breed farm animals. Due to heavy stormwater damage and plumbing repairs, we are currently closed. We will reopen upon completion of these repairs, and updates will be posted on our Facebook page and on our website. Please visit our website.
Okay, so if I check their Facebook page, there's a post about there being heavy storm damage and plumbing repairs from 2016, so I don't think they're coming back. All right, let's try North Georgia Wildlife park and Zoo. It's an hour and seven minutes away.
@ the tone, please record your message.
Hi, my name is Richard. I'm a videographer, and I'm working on a project that I need to get footage of a Lamb for a baby sheep. And I was just wondering if maybe that was something you guys could help me out with. If so, please give me a call back. My number seven Pettit Creek farms, hour and 10 minutes away.
Thank you for calling Pettit Creek Farm. We are open for drive thru tours only.
Southern Bell Farm.
Thank you for calling Southern Bell Farm.
We look forward to seeing you and your family.
Casey's Sheep and Fiber.
Your call has been forwarded to an automated voice messaging system.
Hi, my name is Richard. Hi, my name is Richard Coburger. I'm a videographer. I'm a videographer and I'm working on a project that requires some footage with a lamb footage with a lamb footage. So I was just wondering, I was just wondering, just wondering if maybe that was something you guys could help me out with. If so, just give me a call back. Give me a call back. Give me a call back. Thank you. I'm all dried up. I think I'm gonna wait until I can give that other place a call back. I hope they did not hear all that nonsense. And I guess just wait and see if any of those places I left messages with call me back, which I kind of doubt. I'm hungry. I'm gonna go grab a snack. I just got a text back from one of the places I called. It says, hey, thanks for reaching out. We raise Nigerian dwarf goats, but to not have any lambs. Wish we could help. But keep us in mind for goats or goat Yoga. And I so desperately wish that this release was named Goat right now because I got to know what goat yoga is. Based on the pictures on the website, it looks like it's just yoga, but you're in a pin with a bunch of goats. So I guess it's kind of like doing yoga at home, except instead of a dog or a cat or whatever in your face, it's a bunch of goats, man. That would be good content. Couldn't have been lamb yoga. Okay, it's been about an hour. I'm gonna give that Yellow River Game Ranch place a call back. I really, I really hope they didn't hear me.
Hi, you've hke ordre with KO Property Management. Leave your name and number and I'll get back to you.
Property management. Oh, God. Did I take the number down wrong? I guess I was recording so I can check. Huh. I didn't think this was gonna be this hard. Okay. I just watched the footage back and that was the correct number that I have. It went straight to voicemail. So that's Not a great sign. Oh, they think I'm a weirdo. They're not wrong, but I hate that they know it. I guess I'll just give it some more time and try again later. All right, I gave it another 40 minutes. Let's try it one more time.
Come on.
It's actually ringing this time at least. All right, well, I sent them a text message, so hopefully they get back to me. That's my best bet at this point. I think it's either that or I'm gonna have to make the two hour trip, so. All right. It's been a couple of days. Fixed the quarantine here. This is Isaac, by the way. Say hi, buddy. But he said don't ignore them. I'm sorry, he's rude. Still haven't really locked anything down. One place did call me back that I left a message with and they gave me an email, Tom at whatever it was, but you know, Tom's. You just. You can't trust a Tom. So I'm gonna try one more time. I'm gonna call back. That Yellow River Game Ranch, that one where I did a whole bit while I was still on the phone. And if that doesn't work out, then. I don't know, I guess I'm just gonna go back to plan A. I guess I'm just gonna do the two hour drive. So let's see how this goes.
Your call cannot be completed as dialed or the number has been disconnected.
This. This was an issue last time. I forgot. You gotta go to the website. Yeah, hi, my name is Richard Coburger. I called a couple of days ago, but I think you guys were busy. But I'm a videographer and I'm hoping to get some footage with a lamb. And I was wondering if that was something you guys could possibly help me out with.
Quite possibly. Did you call Katie?
I did. I never got an answer though. It just went to her voicemail.
Yeah, we're about to open on Thursday.
I gotcha.
Hey, we have somebody who's wanting to come in to take. Just need some footage of a lamb. How much footage do you need? Or how much time do you need?
Not much, just a few minutes really.
Can you come in tomorrow?
I can.
Okay, yeah, just come in tomorrow and just ask for Jonathan or Abby or Clint.
Jonathan, Abbey or Clint. Okay, sounds. Sounds good. I appreciate it. All right, thank you. All right. I mean, kind of hung up without saying goodbye, so I'm still a little suspicious they heard what I said. Let me write those names down before I forget about Them. Okay. I guess I'll swing by tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. Probably just gonna be Jonathan, Abby, and Clint standing there with their arms crossed, tapping their feet like, I heard what you said. Sorry about this, by the way. I just moved. So this is eventually going to be a nice background for future videos, but right now, just kind of. Just kind of nothing. This is where a couch will eventually be. Right now, there's just a TV in a box that's eventually going to go somewhere over there. Over here is my turtle. My turtle named Tippy. Server setting, if you ever want to. Ever want to call one turtle, that'd be an easy one. Anyways, see you tomorrow. All right. Today is hopefully the day. Got the GPS set to Yellow River Game Ranch. Gonna go and ask for Jonathan, Abby, and. Or Clint. And we're gonna see a lamb.
Oh, you're wanting a lamp?
I sure am. Hi.
Hi. You're wanting to take a picture of a lamb?
Yes. Well, video, but yes.
Okay. Who? Jonathan has Ford.
It's just a YouTube video. It's just a series that I'm working on.
Okay, so I'm assuming he vetted this. I like not. Is it animal rights or PETA? Like.
No, no, no. It's. It's. So I work for the software company. Two black sheep and a younger sheep.
But just that under that barn.
Okay, perfect. Thank you. Okay. Looking for a red barn. Seems like they're pretty busy. I think they're just about to open back up. If I remember, I think the guy on the phone said that they are opening back up tomorrow, so probably not the best time for me to be showing up with this weird request, but they've been pretty nice about it. Sir, Sir. Excuse me, sir. Pardon. I don't know how normal this is. Is he supposed to be just chilling in the road? Do I go around him to peacocks? Do peacocks. Okay, just gonna squeeze behind you here. Hello. How are you? No need for alarm. Just squeezing on by. All right. All right. See you later. By the way. Have you. Do you know where I could find a red barn? Looking for a red. Looking for a red barn. No. All right. Thanks anyway. Yes. If you want to go in, that would be awesome.
Or we can get her into this little area.
Either way, whatever's best for you guys. Yeah. Hi, friends. Hello.
No.
You'Re not helpful. Hi. Hello.
Perfect.
Thank you.
Here, we can take her in there.
Yes. Perfect. That is the shot. Hi. Hello.
Good job. Snow.
Amazing. Thank you so much.
Yeah, no problem. I'm good.
Thank you. I appreciate it. Thanks again. Have a good one. Good luck. Hi, friend. Tom. Howard. What are you doing here? Hey, man. Good to see you. Hey. Social. Social distancing, please. Jeez, we did it. We found the lamb. Snow. The lamb was looking a little dodgy there for a while, but we made it happen. So now that I have visited with a lamb, let me try and justify why Service Titan has chosen to name this release Lamb. This release is called Lamb because it's not intimidating. You're gonna want to smile when you look at it. It's got some heft to it, but, you know, it's not so heavy that you couldn't pick it up. And it's closely followed by goats, which of course stands for greatest of all time. So there you have it. If you're following this release, then you, my friend, are the goat. You are the greatest of all time. Anyways, that's all I got for today. Be sure to keep a lookout. I'm going to be posting the release notes overview for Lamb over on the Service Titan channel. Be sure to subscribe to this channel if you haven't done that already. Hit, like, if you like the video. And you want me to do this again. Appreciate it. Peace.
Sam.
