Tommy Mello explains why compound interest cuts both ways: it builds wealth over time but destroys it through debt. He stresses starting to invest early, keeping your credit strong, and using a budget or vision board to direct profits toward what matters to you.
Tommy, you know I love making money. I know you do too.
Yeah.
All right, so what's one financial piece of advice?
I got a few things that I tell my younger self. Number one is compound interest is the most powerful thing in the universe when it's working against you. It works against you with credit cards, debt, even SBA loans. Number two, what's working for you. It just starts to compound and compound and compound the earlier you start. If you ever look at a finite graph like calculator, those extra five to 10 years will. Will make you tens of millions of dollars. The other thing, what I would tell you is your credit's all you have in life, and number three, and Ellen will love this, is creating a budget and a personal budget, figuring out what you want, building a vision board. Set your kids up, set your vacations up, set your second and third house up. Figure out what the profit comes out for your future self. Then the rest goes towards your ordinary living.
