Listening to be inspired by guys who don't settle for living a life of mediocrity. This is your call to action. Action and call to adventure. Are you ready?
Okay. So this is the Whole Man Academy podcast, episode 83. I actually stopped counting the episodes once we hit kind of about 60. I remember when we got to 10, I was like, oh, this is cool. And then 25, then 50. But to be honest, my last podcast with Mark Knight, I couldn't actually remember where we got to. Anyway, maybe I'll get excited when we get to something like 100 and try and get a special guest on. But let's see. So today is just me. We've got a lot to cover. We're going to go through some questions, talk about coaching, talk about the podcast, and at the end, we're going to give you one big takeaway to help you do life better. And I don't mean something from just eat that you're going to nosh down in about five minutes on the sofa whilst playing with your computer. So, first question was about the next meetup. Now, as some of you might know, especially in the uk, you know we've held events before and also we've hosted dinners always in London. So we were trying to fit one in just before Christmas. So we picked the date, which is December 2nd. We will be back in London, a small group of guys getting together. It will most likely be in Covent Garden. So for those that can make it, more info will be on our E letter, which of course you can subscribe to. I'm sure many of you do. But if not subscribe to our E letter, the link will be in the bio and that will give you more information and also the release of the tickets. And in theory, it'll probably be at Byron. So it means a great burger, a great beer, and pretty much a great night out. Next question was about the online course which we launched a couple of months ago. And about what is it? Well, you can read more about it on our website or at the bottom of our E letter. But what it was for us was about, do you know, the biological reason why so many men start feeling, and we say bored and unfulfilled with their life in their kind of mid-30s and-40s. And unsurprisingly, if you don't do anything about it, why, it gets worse and worse as you get older. What we wanted to do was help you understand the root cause of why so many men feel kind of a bit lost and past their prime when they reach this age. And the cause, if we had to break it to a nutshell, it was about rediscovering the energy and excitement, and we call it lust for life. You had previously, like when you were a kid and in your 20s, can you remember what that was like? You know, when you wake up every day feeling like you're truly living as opposed to just existing. So we talk a lot about that feeling of sleep walking through life. And I said that I felt like that when I worked in the city. You know, you felt like it was a bit of a Groundhog day. You were at your desk at 6:45 in the morning. You know, you worked all day, you sat at your desk, you went home, you went to the gym and you went out and you did this and did that. And you were like, is this it? And you feel like you're sleep walking through life? So what do we cover in the course? We cover mindset. You know, we cover fitness morning routine, which we talk about a lot, you know, and the podcast is so important. Sleep, which is a huge part of how you're kind of turning up for life. When you think, you know, on average you should be maybe sleeping for seven or eight hours a day, and if you're doing it even better than you could, then it could have a big impact on your life and your productivity and your mood and how you react to things. We also talk about how you fuel yourself. And I just said, how do you react to challenging situation? Which I think was one of the big game changers for me. When I had a realization about how you get to react to things is really up to you. Instead of getting angry, you can stay calm and you can be focused. So we're seeing some great results with the course. What I thought I'd do is, as opposed to me saying it was good, I found one of the guys who's actually completed the course. We'll come back to that in a minute. And he, quite kindly, without me even asking, wrote a few nice words about his experience of the whole man protocol course. So he said, I've been going through the whole man protocol. I'm wanting to reach out to say how great it's been over the last six weeks. My Energy has increased, my weight and body fat has decreased and my motivation has never been higher. Thanks again for an awesome course. Well Jimmy, thanks very much for writing that and I know I got in touch with you and you kind of said you'd even write some more about it. So I'm sure we'll be in touch to kind of, you know, break that down. And one of the big things there was about energy has increased and motivation has never been higher. Now for everybody listening here, what's possible if you had more energy and your motivation level was higher? You know, I think that is one of those priceless things. So if you're interested in that, you can go to our website and go through our freebie, which is an excellent download and go through the course there. Or again of course, if you subscribe to the E letter, the link is always at the bottom and you can work through it from there. And if you're not sure, send me an email anthonyoleman academy.com reach out to me and I'll give you a shout and give you some more information. But here's the important thing on that Jimmy actually did the course. Sounds obvious, doesn't it? But what you're going to see is some people will take the course and because it's not particularly expensive as well, they will not not do it or they'll work through a bit of it and then get busy doing other stuff or shiny object syndrome. And I'll tell you, for me, many years ago it's a, I spent for some people might be an eye watering man, but I remember I went on a course, a two day one in London and they offered a more kind of personalized course online afterwards and I dropped, I think it was about 6,000 pounds which is not inconsiderable amount of money on the course. And when I came home I did about one week of it and I never did anymore. I logged in a few times but I wasn't fully focused on what I was doing. So we've tried to keep the course affordable for everybody. But just to give you an example, you know, it is possible some people, and I was the same, you'll do a course, you know, you'll pay for it and then you just don't do it. So if you already have got involved in the course and you haven't completed it, make sure you work through it. I always say that the first week is actually the most challenging of the lot and it gets slightly easier and the magic starts to happen towards the end. So again I'll Put the link in the show notes below if you want to jump on that. Okay, let's talk next about the podcast. A couple of the guests coming up. I mean, we've had some great guys in the last couple of weeks thanks to the people that said about enjoying the podcast with Mark Knight last week, international dj, happens to be a friend of mine as well, got a night out coming up with him in December. But you know, there was one of the guys mentioned the story about where Mark said about his granddad saying, you know, it's 80% preparation and I think that's a big lesson to us all is, you know, if you're wanting to achieve in life, being prepared is one of the big, the big things that you could be looking at and you're in control of yourself. So if you haven't already listened to the Mark Knight one last week, go back and listen to it next week. In theory, all being well, we've got Gary Lafferty over from the States. He's a global international speaker, a best selling author. He talks about mindset and all about sales, which I'm sure a lot of us who've got either products online or even in your own, you know, everybody's a salesman, they're selling every day. You know, it might just be that you're selling to your, your girlfriend that you want to go out next week on a big night out and you've got to work out what to say to her. So that'll be one of those really interesting podcasts. And in theory, the week after that we've got one of the guys from the Spiritual Fight Club over in Australia. So what I'm trying to do is find guys from all around the world, not just the uk, who can give us those golden nuggets to help us do life better and maybe have got an interesting or cool story and can make us laugh. Other thing is, if you've got a suggestion for a guest, if it's a guy who you think is living his own version of epic life and you think that people would like to hear from him again, get in touch. Feel free to email me anthonyolemanacademy.com don't be offended if I have a look at them, think no, they're not right for the podcast. It happens. But we're trying to find guys who we think will inspire all of you to again, be more motivated to take action, to feel better, to think better. Next one onto coaching. So I do personal coaching for a select few guys. Again, it's always important to Hear from guys that you're working with as opposed to the person that's telling you about it. So one of the guys I've been doing coaching with for pretty much two years had written something which I thought you might find interesting because often people are like, well, what would you get out of coaching? And it's a good question because everybody gets something different. But here's what he wrote. I'm a director of a law firm. I've been working with Anthony for two years. Before we met, I was confused, stressed, anxious and my productivity was suffering at work. Nasty business. Anthony's coaching has helped me gain clarity to work through issues and problem solve, to maintain a healthy work life balance which is priceless and to ensure I always focus on what's really important to me. Don't we go on about focus and how important it is for all of us. My productivity and profitability at work has virtually doubled. Cash back. My home life is happy and secure. Anthony's helped me develop new skills and insights that help me look after myself and those around me. And I think that's so important. Again, hearing from guys who have transformed their life. And if you look to this guy two years ago to where he is now, he's a totally different person. And again, yes, he might have more money in the bank, but he's got more energy and actually he's happier in life, which again, for me is one of those priceless things. He's reaching a higher level of fulfillment than he was when he first started. Here's the important thing there. I would say to guys when we're doing coaching, and I've heard plenty of coaches say this to people, I'm not here to be your friend. You know, it's about accountability and getting shit done. So it's not there saying, oh, you haven't done anything this week, never mind, oh, you've been busy. It's like, well, why not? You know, have you spent your time pissing around watching Netflix or playing computer games or God knows what else you've been doing instead of actually taking action, something that you really want to achieve. So again, that's one of those important things is taking action. And a bit like the course instead of just thinking about it and not actually doing it. There's that great saying I've said many times, knowing and not doing is the same as not knowing. So again, if you're interested in the coaching you want to apply, the link will be at the bottom. Hit me up and we can have a quick focus call and talk about that. And the last thing I want to go on to is, and we say on the podcast, you know, has said before, and also it's on the website, the whole man Academy is about cultivating an environment to build inner strength for men. And I was asked about one of the books I'm reading, and it is this book, how to Be Fucking awesome by Dan Meredith, who hopefully, if he's able to, we will get on the podcast in the next couple of months. But the big thing was about, you know, the people you are around. And again, we've heard about this on the podcast in the last few weeks about, you know, if you're around those people that are, how can I put it, are building you up and that's priceless, as opposed to people that are actually kind of knocking you down. And there's a. The guy who's called the Trillion Dollar Man, Dan Pena, who's a completely divisive character. I think he's excellent, but he's no nonsense, which I love. And I remember he spoke about, you know, you are, you are able to in life, have a look around this, think, you know, what if these people aren't serving me in life, it's okay to tell them to go himself and get rid of them. You know, delete them out your book. If you've got someone around you that's an energy vampire or a mood hoover, you know, I love sayings, then it is okay to think these people do you know what? I'm just not going to hang around with them anymore. And again, people say the average of the five people you hang around with, that is so important. So maybe you could, you know, spring clean your circle. That sounds like it's anal bleaching, but that's something completely different. Look at the people you're around and say, is this person someone I want to hang around with? Do I feel good around them? If not, get rid. And if there's someone else that you think would be good in that circle of trust, you know, reach out to them, to someone you haven't spoken to for a while, reconnect with them, maybe jump on a zoom call. Anyway, there's a great book that Dan Meredith has written, say I've just said it how to Be Fucking Awesome. And I wanted to read you a quick chapter or a little snippet of it for you. So he starts off with a quote, which is who you hang out with determines what you dream about and what you collide with. And the collisions and the dreams lead to your changes and the Changes are what you become. Change the outcome by changing your circle. That was written by Seth Godin, who would be a good one on the podcast, but we'll get onto that another time. But here's what Dan says. Normal people around you won't have a clue about what you are doing, nor will they understand jack shit about what you're going through on this journey of entrepreneurialism and awesomeness or even your own journey in life. So it's important to surround yourself with like minded people. We say this a lot, those who are not only the same journey as you, but some who are further along the line or maybe slightly further behind. The key is to have similar goals, ambitions and values to you. There is no point hanging around with lazy fucking people who are unhappy in their soul sucking jobs and refuse to do anything about it. Important point. Only waiting until the weekend to numb their senses. Partying until 4am and wasting the money. They just spent 60 plus hours in the week earning that. They sit in front of the TV slowly letting their life slip by and they do the same again the following week. No aim, no gain. This concept of surrounding myself with kind of people has actually accelerated my success tenfold. So important point there. Again, if there's people in your life who are draining your energy, have a think about whether you need them in your life at all. And if not, just say goodbye to them. I found it quite useful as well and actually it's quite therapeutic. Anyway, that should do us for today. Just a quick podcast I hope you enjoyed again last week. The week before. Got some great guests coming up. Gary Laffertine Theory next week. As long as we don't have any kind of random power cuts or something stupid. And again, all the links are below. So if you're interested in the course, in the coaching or anything else you want to speak to me about, hit me up and we will catch you next week.
