3 Ways To GET MORE ATTENTION As An Artist Online

Lennon Bone shares three ways artists can stand out online: show more of yourself, use infographics, and post video content. The focus is on connecting with audiences through these specific formats rather than just posting finished work.

Listen up, artists. It doesn't matter if you are a photographer, a visual artist, a musician, a filmmaker, whatever your medium is. We often feel like we're becoming a slave to our social media. We feel like we're putting things out there for people to see. And no matter how hard we try, we still end up not getting noticed. And that leads us to more and more frustration. So at the end of this video, I want you to feel like you have a few things that you can plan to do more often that will bring you more luck. Getting fans, getting clients, just getting connected with the right people.
What's up, friend? Lennon here. If this is your first time on the channel, this place exists to help artists stand out and make money doing meaningful work.
The first thing I want you to consider acting on when it comes to your social media is just showing more yourself and not just the work that you do. So if you're a musician, you maybe post videos of you playing guitar or drumming or doing stuff on your OP1, whatever it is. But you know, don't forget people want more insight into you and what you do. If you're a visual artist, you may be thinking like, I want this grid to be perfection and I want to make sure everything looks really beautiful. I'm going to go ahead and argue against that and say that, you know, we have to make sure that people connect with us on a deeper level because the work is actually just a calling card to us. People are getting things from us because they care about us as much as they do the work. Otherwise they could just get similar work somewhere else. So think about showing more of yourself and showing up that way. So another thing to consider when you're planning out your lucky social media content is to think about how can you inspire or motivate or teach somebody something, right? What we know is that people are three times more likely to share an infographic card than they are something else. What is an infographic card? That's one of those quote things that you see on Instagram or something where you can swipe through and get educated on something. And the reason is because if you, it's easier for that to represent them. And this could also come by way of your art. So if you're a visual artist, you could create really cool, like infographic style things in your own style. If you want somebody to share it, you have to think, will this represent someone else's brand or personality so well that when they put it on their social media account, it. It works for them? You have to think less about does it work for you? Does it work for the person that you want to use it? Think about testing out things like infographics, quote cards, stuff like that, and just getting creative with it. You don't have to do the same bland thing that everybody does, like, get creative with it. Do your own spin on it and see what happens. And the last thing I want you to consider here is making video a part of your content plan. And the reason is video is an amazing way for people to connect with you deeper. They get to actually, like, look into your eyes and say, do I like this person as a human being? Do I care about the things that they care about? Do I like their process? So talk about those things in video. Allow people to get to know you more that way as well. There's a good stat that Sundays people are 85% more likely to buy something when they can see how it works on video. So if you're an educator, if you're a visual artist, if you're a musician, like, sharing that process is kind of like showing somebody how it works, and it allows somebody to feel a lot more connected to it and to understand how it may resonate or work with them better. And so I would really, really consider thinking about video being a bigger part of your content plan. And if that's something you want to learn about doing more of, like, put it in the comments, let me know, because I'd be happy to teach the things that I know, because I was not a video guy coming into doing this stuff, just strictly a musician and producer. And so I've had to learn some things to make it all work. So think about video. Connect with people deeper. So now that you got a few things to chew on here, I want you to go watch this video. This is three things that artists and creatives should start doing right now. To treat yourself more like a professional, to start to up your own value. So go check out this video, and I'll see you over there.
