You can trigger your own PTSD through external events like a loud noise or internal ones like a negative thought spiral. Both types of triggers are personal and can be self-induced without realizing it.

Can you trigger your own PTSD? Yes, it'd probably be very easy to do that yourself, and it just depends on what your triggers are. The first thing to understand is there's 2 types of triggers: external triggers and then also internal triggers, both of which could theoretically be triggered by yourself. So like, if you are sitting here and you're on your computer and you drop your computer and it makes a really loud noise, that could trigger you. But a more common one are the internal triggers. So if you start thinking about something and you have a negative thought, and then that negative thought reminds you of another negative thought, and then you keep continuing down and spiraling down this negative loop, that is a way that you can trigger your own PTSD.
