Brad Schipke argues that belief in healing is the first step to recovering from PTSD. He recommends seeking out stories of people who overcame similar trauma and deliberately feeding your mind with this evidence until you internalize the belief, which then aligns your actions with recovery.

If you don't believe that you will heal, then you won't take the actions required to fully recover. You have to find reasons for why recovery is possible for you. To heal from PTSD, you must believe you can heal from PTSD. I want you to look for other people who have done it. I want you to actively search out for solutions and actively seek out other people who've gone through hardships and have overcome them. And then I want you to just feed your mind and basically brainwash yourself into believing that you can do this. And once the belief is there, the road and the path ahead will open up for you. It's not easy. The path isn't easy. It's not simple. It's definitely not painless. It's very painful, actually. But once you believe, your actions will start to align with the goal and you will fully recover because you will persist through that belief.
