Brad Schipke tracked over 2,000 clients and found that genuine trauma processing requires 100-300 hours of focused work. Standard weekly therapy sessions deliver only 25 hours per year, meaning 4-12 years to heal. Learning self-processing techniques can accelerate this timeline.

How many hours does it actually take to heal PTSD? After tracking over 2,000 of my clients, the honest range that I see is between 100 and 300 hours of actual processing. Not just journaling, not just talking about it, but real root processing of the trauma. Now, if you do the traditional 50-minute session once a week with a therapist, you're going to be doing about 25 hours a year of processing. So to hit that 100 to 300 hour mark, it's going to take you 4 to 12 years just to hit the target of full recovery. And that's why it's so imperative that you learn how to process on your own so you're not dependent on a therapist and you can put in as much time as you need to fully heal. You can truly just stack the hours and compress the timeline safely in a way that works for you.
