Brad Schipke argues that trauma recovery is an experiment you run on yourself. Only you understand your problem deeply enough to test solutions, iterate, and find what works. Experts can guide you, but you're the one who devises the creative strategies that lead to full healing.

The thing about trauma and recovery is that we go through so many things in our life that it's almost impossible for somebody else to untangle those for us. We are the ones closest to the problem, meaning we are the ones who are the best equipped to actually solve these problems. So have this mindset that you are experimenting, you're creating these hypotheses and these potential solutions to your problems, and then you test them out and you see how they do. If they work, great. If they don't work, you iterate on that problem until you solve it. Whether it's a belief, whether it's emotion, whether it's releasing emotion, whether it's doing specific parts work or shadow work, whatever it is, run these experiments with yourself. Ask yourself, what is a potential solution to this problem I'm facing right now? And you will come up with more creative solutions that other people and experts and therapists would never be able to give you because you know yourself best, you know the problems best, and you're the only one who went through what you went through. Nobody else has gone through it. So trust yourself, trust your ability to come up with solutions, and you will find solutions that will blow your mind. So believe in what you can do and you will fully recover.
