PTSD comes from a single traumatic event like an accident or assault. CPTSD develops from prolonged repeated trauma like childhood abuse and damages your sense of identity and trust in relationships. Both can heal with the right therapy, though CPTSD typically takes longer to recover from.

PTSD usually comes from a single overwhelming event like an accident, assault, or a disaster, whereas CPTSD, or complex PTSD, comes from a long-term repeated trauma like childhood abuse, neglect, or years of fear. So really the difference is duration and depth. CPTSD doesn't just affect your memories, it affects your sense of identity, your trust and safety in relationships. But both are trauma responses, and the most important thing for you to know is that both of them can be healed. The brain and body can rewire from either one with the right approach. Typically, CPTSD takes longer to heal because there's more traumas that need to be processed, but it is still 100% possible to process all of them. If you want to learn how to do that, make sure to subscribe and watch some of my longer videos.
