What happens when PTSD goes untreated? Well, basically the trauma you experience just stacks up and stacks up and never gets processed. So you just get this backlog of trauma and symptoms that compounds over time. And if it's not healed at the root, it will stay there in your long-term memory and get triggered again and again and again whenever something in the environment reminds you of it. So if untreated, PTSD does not go away on its own.
