You're making a mistake if you use a debit card in these six places. Number six Most people don't even know one. Airline tickets. Many credit card companies give you airline insurance if your flight is canceled. Plus a number of them give you perks when you're flying, such as cash back or fraud protection. And even some offer access to lounges and exclusive benefits. 2. Independent ATMs. Why risk becoming a victim of skimmers? If you have a credit card that you can cancel that transaction, you don't get nailed. This happened to my parents on a trip to Italy 20 years ago. They got nailed for €500 for two failed transactions. Transactions. And it took them six months to sort it out. That ruined our trip. Three. Gas stations. They put up to $100 on hold when you use your debit card. And it can hold for a few hours up to a few days with a credit card. This doesn't happen. 4. Online purchases with a credit card. If something is wrong with the transaction, you can do a chargeback within 60 days. And this will allow you to get your money back. With a debit card. You can't do that. Once the money spent, it's gone. 5. Dining. Unfortunately, there's some dishonest employees out there taking down debit card information. A credit card protects you if they spend any money. I A Debit card does not. 6. New appliances. A lot of credit card companies will double the warranty when you purchase an appliance on that card. And that definitely doesn't happen with a debit card. I don't use a debit card at all anymore. Short answer why? Security safety and points. And that is why.
