Brad Hart talks about imposter syndrome and why feeling like you don't belong is actually a sign you're aware of what you don't know. He tells leaders to push past the discomfort because that's where growth happens.
Imposter syndrome. What is that? Have you ever felt like you don't belong as being the expert or the job that you have? Whatever leadership position you find yourself in, nobody does. The fact that you're feeling that means that you're a healthy, well wired adult. If you didn't feel those feelings, that means you're a sociopath. So if you feel like you always want to be better, it's never good enough. You shouldn't be there. It's just imposter syndrome talking. The only way to lead and grow is to step out of your comfort zone. Go through the stuff that makes you feel icky inside and come out the other side stronger. That's your mandate as a leader.
