If you've never opened a credit card, I've got you. We're going to start you off with a secured card. Why? Because the way a secured card works is you put down a deposit and then you can spend that amount of the deposit. So it's very similar to a debit card, but you can still build credit with a secured card. Step one go over to Discover.com and look for the Discover it credit card, especially if you have no credit history. Step 2 Fill out all the information and pick what color card you want. Step 3 Open the account at a $200 minimum deposit. Step 4 Turn on automatic payments to your card so that's paid off every single month. Step 5 SP. Spend 10% or less of the amount that you're allowed to charge on that card. And what this does is it lowers your credit utilization, which helps you skyrocket your credit score. And after a year, you'll get your deposit back and you'll be on your way to building an amazing credit score. Follow me for more great money tips.
