I Interviewed Dean Graziosi! It was FIRE!

Brad Hart interviews entrepreneur Dean Graziosi about rebuilding after pandemic disruption. Graziosi stresses that success requires both mindset work on beliefs and identity, plus tactical moves like choosing topics, using Facebook groups, and pricing courses. He's launching OwnIt60, a free five-day challenge starting May 11 with no replay.

Welcome, everybody, and I'm so grateful and excited to have Dean Graziosi, the one and only, back on the show. Welcome to the Make More Marble show. Dean, how are you, sir?
Good, man. Good to see you. Brad, what's going on?
It's a pleasure. Pleasure. Welcome all our Facebook families live. If you guys have questions, feel free to rock them out in the comments. We'll make sure to ask Dean. Just, you know, catch us up. Dean, what's it been like this last year? I know we got to touch base a little bit in Florida. It's been a busy group for you guys, and Tony and I just want to get a good overview of what's been going on.
Kind of hanging out, drinking margaritas, you know, chilling on the beach, not doing much anything. It's good to see you guys, Brad. Always good. It was fun spending time with you in Florida. You know, listen, in times of chaos, let's just be honest, right? If you're watching live or you're listening to the recording of this, let's just be honest and say that in times of chaos, when things shift, when they change, our subconscious, our. Our inner self, doubt, anything you want to call it, it makes us want to freeze. It makes us want to wait to see where things are going. And I just want to share with you if you felt that way, if you felt like you were nervous, fearful, scared, uncertain, feeling more like an imposter than ever before, feeling lack of confidence that you need to go to that next level, start something new. Do I pivot or do I wait till the world goes back to the way it was? Do I start something new? Or what I had was working before it changed. If all any of those emotions went through your head, Congratulations, for this has been the craziest time in my 52 years on this planet. And I think what Tony and I have seen, because he's. I mean, we both appreciate Tony on such a high level, Brad. I know that's one of the things that bonded us. Tony impacted my life 25 years ago, and now he's my dearest friend. We talked last night for two and a half hours, and a lot of our conversations are around the world and what we could do. Not that we're the saviors, but don't we all feel like. And don't we all love to do our own little part, bigger part, any part we can, to shift the narrative, to give people confidence, confidence, to give them their courage back, to give them capabilities, to give them just a better vision or a compelling future or just A crumb that makes them go, you know what? I'm going to think different. I'm going to focus on something different. I'm going to try something new. And literally that's our conversations behind the scenes again. Not that we're the saviors of the planet, but we just happen to be in this industry. We happen to have eyeballs, we happen to have people listening and we really take it serious. That if people are going to be listening, that we do everything in our power to deliver capabilities. So that was a long answer to say, you know, what have I been up to? Of course, running our businesses. Of course. I have a new baby, I have a one year old son, I have a 14 year old, a 12 year old. I'm married to the love of my life. We have family and we have a great team. But really our focus for the last year has been how do we serve people at this level, how do we take uncomfortable action ourselves, how do we pivot in ways we didn't when the world went virtual? I mean, the truth is Tony fought me for three months to go virtual. He's like, no, no, I'll just figure out a way. I'll just, sorry, my microphone just fell off. I'll just figure out a way to do it in churches or do it in movie theaters or anything like that. He was just ready to continue what he was doing. This is Tony Robbins, who was having a tough time shifting because he had done it the same way for 40 years. Right? So with all that said, let's talk about anything that can help people with that pivot. Anything to gain the confidence, the courage to do it. Because the world may never go back to the way it was.
That's right.
Tony said something that stuck with me. Humpty Dumpty broke. There's no way it's going back together the same way. So if the world is going to change, isn't this a great time for us to change? To gain capabilities, to gain courage, to pivot, to make that shift, to start the business, to scale the business, to do the thing that you were afraid to do before, but now, what could you be afraid of? Right? You could be afraid of staying where you used to be. And we've been focusing on how do we serve, how do we give back, how do we protect our families, protect our friends, and protect the people that we can impact. And I think, you know, so many great leaders have said it throughout time, if you want to be successful, see how many people you can help be successful or help change your life. And I think that byproduct is proving itself to be correct over and over 100%.
And, you know, I love more than anything when I run into leaders like yourself, like Tony, like all the folks that we surround ourselves with, it's the quality of the questions that they ask that have determined the shape in the course of their lives. So what are some of the questions people should be asking themselves right now in this situation? We're coming, you know, into the second year of this pandemic, and we're starting to see the world start to open up. You've had people who have had their businesses explode and people whose businesses have gone out of business. So what types of questions should you be asking as a leader of yourself and others?
Really great question. I think a question should be, am I really working on the things that can move the needle in my business or my life, or am I just busy? Because when we're a little scared, even a little bit, when we're a little confused just a little bit, when we're a little uncertain, just a little bit, we can let our subconscious work on the things that keep us busy and keep us comfortable. Right? Let me go back and change the look of my company. Let me change the name. Let me create a new course. But maybe the industry you're in, you got to, just like you said, businesses have exploded. They really have. They've exploded up and they've exploded and gone away.
Nothing in the middle.
So one of the questions is, am I being real raw and honest with myself? Am I in the right fricking industry? Am I driving a taxi thinking it's going to come back and Uber is going to go away? Do I own the last Blockbuster store thinking if I just serve people better and put a better sign out there and maybe cut the trees in front of the store, they'll come back. They're never coming back. So I think one is being just brutally honest with yourself. Are you doing the shit you need to do? Are you merging? Are you adapting? Are you adopting? Are you pivoting? Are you shifting? Because that's scary. But are you not pretending? Not just changing the logo or the name of your course or your training or what you're doing? Are you really seeing where the world's going? I love the quote from Wayne Gretzky, and I think I've probably plagiarized it and then shifted it and made it work for me. But it started with Wayne Gretzky, the famous hockey player, and he said some people skate. Somebody asked him why he was so good. He said some people skate to where the puck was. Most people skate to where the puck is. I try to skate where the puck is going. So I guess the question you should ask yourself is, are you skating to where the puck is going? And if you're not, who can help you see where the puck may be going? Hopefully I would love it to be Tony and I or Brad or other people that are out there obsessing on where the world is going, where the flow of money is going, where the flow of wealth is going, where the flow of eyeballs are going, what industries are exponentially growing. If you're not paying attention to that, then it's easy to be left behind.
Well, and the other thing I love so much about you, Dean, specifically, is that you take the time to read the comments, to answer the questions, to look at the customer service emails of which you get tens of thousands a week. It's insane, right? But you take the time because you're so committed to helping people. And it comes down to not this huge group of people, this huge mass of people, but individuals. So what have you learned by reading and understanding and answering the comments? What are people begging and crying and looking out for right now that you can provide or we can provide to help the world?
Yeah. So I love answering that in two questions, Brad and I know you know this already, but I want everybody to really hear this. What most I believe every question has two answers. Every question there's a very strategic and tactical answer. Write that down. There's a strategic and tactical answer or solution, but there's also an upstream mindset behind it or state of mind or belief around it that if you don't answer that question as well, it doesn't matter how great the tool, the tactic, the strategy. The secret is everybody's looking. Most of my DMs and I look at hundreds a day because I want to live inside the mind of my client. I want to know their fears, their goals, their dreams. That's how we can serve people the best. But a lot of people say, Dean, what's the secret to getting wealthy right now? What's the secret to my page converting right now? Most of the questions are tactical and strategic and we need that. I'm a tactician. I love to be strategic. But I know if my mindset upstream is off, none of it will work. I'm going to give you an example, Brad, and then I'll circle back around and I'll share both sides. So I had a woman and one of our awesome lady. Could tell she was just a badass. You know, when you meet somebody in two minutes, you know she's got it, right? She's got it. She's my high level mastermind. I'm talking to her on a zoom screen like this, and she says, dean, I need help with my video on my sales page. I just can't get a video to work. I just haven't even put one up because I just. I'm terrible on video. I suck on video. So I said, okay. Did you go through the. We have this. I have this training called story teach tool to really lay out a video. She goes, yeah, God. When I saw that. And she smiled, Brad. And she's like, oh, my God. When I saw that, I knew I could do a video, and she was in a good state. And then she went, yeah, but. And I'm like, oh, see, there's two things here. So I said, you know what? Let's put a pin in the tactical side. I promise I can get you to talk to the camera like it's your best friend that you're having coffee with, that you know, that you can change her life with a framework that'll work. We up for that? I said, but can I ask you something else? What else is why aren't. Why aren't you doing a video? She's like, oh, because I'm not sure. I said, why else? And I kept asking, you know what? We got to Brad, that her husband, who she loves and he's a great dude, thinks that what she's doing is crazy, that it's not gonna work, that it's not for her. And when it boiled down to it, she was afraid if she filmed the video and he saw it, he'd make fun of her. Wow. Now how the hell in the world. I could give her the greatest tool, the greatest course. Toni and I take our 60 years worth of knowledge and boil it into the most magical training in the world. I could give it to her. She could have the story teach tool model, the hook story clothes model. She could lay it out. I could give her the framework. I could put her in our studio with $20,000 cameras with the per perfect lighting. And if she sits there and thinks my husband's gonna make fun of me, it will never work. So I want everybody to think about that. Tactically, strategically. The world has shifted things. Like the knowledge industry that Tony and I are advocates of. Brad is an advocate of selling what you know. Your commodity, your asset, lives inside your brain. A message, a story, a belief. Your inventory is housed by your brain, by your head, by your skull. You don't need to put product in a warehouse. It's an industry exponentially growing, and we all have the asset. When you know how to unlock it. I could sit here and talk to you for 20 minutes on how you should be in the knowledge industry. You're crazy if you're not. The world needs what you have. But if you go upstream and you have a belief I'm an introvert, or if that's for other people, or I don't know if anybody listened to me, or I don't have a following, or if that's people like Brad and Dean and Tony, but not me. I'm shy, I'm too big, I'm too small, I'm too old, I'm too young. I. I could give you all the strategy and tactics. I give you the blueprint. But if upstream belief stops you, like this woman's belief that her husband will make fun of her, it'll never work. So I guess the question going back to what you said two questions ago, what are the questions we should ask ourselves? Why are you not moving forward? Why are you not where you want to be? Why would you look in the mirror, possibly, and say, I thought I'd be further ahead by now and you're not, I would ask yourself, what are the two things? Am I in the wrong industry? Do I have the wrong secret strategies and tools? If so, be the explorer, be an investigative reporter and find a new place to go and learn from. Secondly, I think you should go upstream and see what's cost you past opportunities, what story or belief has stopped you in the past. And when you can master both, that's when you become unstoppable.
That's an incredible piece of advice, Dean, and you're so right. I mean, tactics and strategy, it's all the tip of the iceberg, right? But if we're not willing to look underneath the water and see the whole iceberg for what it is, the mindset, the beliefs, the identity that this woman is occupying that's keeping her from moving forward as the person who is held back by her husband and his beliefs, then you're never going to move forward, no matter what strategy you have. And by the time you get over the mindset, the strategy will have changed anyway. So the mindset, that's wonderful. Another question we get all the time, which is kind of a gimme. Obviously, I know how you'd answer, but I think people need to hear it right now, is for those People whose businesses, whose lives, who jobs have exploded during COVID or their health is really on the rocks. If you had everything taken away from you, you know, your money, your contacts, your connections and you just have the knowledge that's in your head, how would you rebuild during this time?
I would pick a topic that I know I've been experiencing. And here's the thing, I want you to hear this. Your mess is sometimes the greatest message. I've written multiple New York Times best selling books. Even though I have dyslexia. I still have trouble spelling. I still have trouble reading a book. I have to listen to books. And I wrote every one of my books how because I use voice memos and all kinds of cool ways around the traditional way of writing. My last millionaire success habits is almost at a million copies, right? So I could do a course on how to write a best selling book. I've been through that. But I've also been through a divorce that scared the hell out of me and gave me anxiety and had me up all night and sick to my stomach and had a pop a Xanax a couple days a week just to get. Because I was so worried about my children that they would be fragmented, they would be hurt that I wouldn't be connected with them. And then one day I just said, no, that's not acceptable to me. And I read every book possible. I hired two coaches and I interviewed over 30 people that went through a divorce and found a way to connect with their ex and be co parents and friends and move on and make sure there was a child centered divorce. I obsessed on it. Brad obsessed on it. And fast forward, my anxiety went away because my kids are thriving. My previous wife is doing amazing with her life. She's doing better than she ever did with me. I'm married to the love of my life. My kids get to see love. So if I could teach people how to do a book. But I might decide there's a lot of people in pain out there going through a divorce and they're hurting their kids and they don't even realize it. I would probably. If you took everything away from me because I'm so passionate about that, so passionate about kids. I would probably start a Facebook group. Literally today I'd start a Facebook group and probably call it child centered divorce. And then I would go to every other divorce Facebook group I could find and there's limited ones, limitless amounts of them. And I'd find people in pain, find people who are worried about their kids and I'd make friends with them and say, come over to my Facebook group because I want to deliver value to you a couple days a week. And I would just start teaching in that Facebook group and I'd go to a whole bunch of other Facebook groups. I'd start it on social media. I'd do Instagram and I would just go, go, go, go, go. I'd build up a following while simultaneously I would lay out this five or seven things I did to make my kids thrive and me have a relationship with my ex. And I'd probably sell them a $997 course on how to put your kids first and how to live a fulfilled life after divorce. Yeah, I think I could do it in 30 days or less. I'd be selling courses.
That's beautiful because guess what? You know, that price point is really accessible for most people. It's way worth it, right? When people think about a non monetary offer, they're like, well, how do I price this? And that's the question I get all the time. Well, think about how much a divorce would cost, right. If you didn't have these tools, if.
You didn't have these, think about being on your deathbed and your kid and two of your kids don't talk to you and you still haven't had a conversation with their mother or their father in 17 years. What would that cost you at the end of your life?
Yeah. So people are so afraid to charge, but what's in their head is so valuable and people pay attention to what they pay for and what pays them. So you gotta charge in order for people to be invested and therefore take action. Absolutely. We've all done. You know, in the age of YouTube and Google and Facebook, if free information worked, we'd all be shredded. Billionaires and perfect kids and a great marriage and no problems, about to achieve enlightenment. That's just not the world we live in today. So we really need people like you to share what they're doing and, and lay it out for people in a way that they can really commit to it and understand it. So Dean, please tell us what, what is newest around the mastermind.com brand? What are you guys up to? How are you spreading this self education movement and taking it to the next level? Because you're not one to rest on your laurels every single year. So everybody to learn.
Yeah. This is the. I'm so stoked on this and I'm glad you asked. And Brad, thank you for helping us get the word out because we're shooting for a million people And a million people listen. How do we change the equity? How do we change the global economy? We help empower the economy in your home, right? How do you change the global conversations? We change the conversations in our homes and around the people we want. Tony and I got together and we realized in January we put together a challenge called the New World, New youw to shift people's mindset in a new world. And we put 837,000 people in the challenge.
I just want to pause and say that's like, that's Wembley Stadium numbers. That's insane numbers. That's like Queen, you know, Wembley Stadium, biggest concert of all time virtually. And it's only going to get bigger from here.
So, yeah, somebody showed me a picture of Woodstock here in America in the 60s and there was a half a million people there. I'm like, that's unbelievable. And we put 300,000 more in our challenge, right?
Wild. Wild.
We changed their mindset, but we realized, especially now with all the comments is we got their mindset. But now people don't know what to do with their economic future. How do they create their own economy? What vehicle can take them there? What's growing? So now on May 11, write this down. This very moment, May 11, we are doing the Own youn Future Challenge. And this is about owning your economic future. How do you. And I mean, let's face it, some things are drying up, some things are exploding in a bad way. The knowledge industry, the information industry, the self education industry, sharing what you know, industry, selling what you know, industry, whatever you want to call it, is exponentially growing. So Tony and I got together, we're going to do five days, about two hours a day, and we're going to pull back the curtain on how we've done it, but how you can do it. And then we invited 14 people that we think all of them didn't start in this industry. They had no idea they were going to go in this industry. They either went through a mess, a transition, a transformation, and now they're in the knowledge industry. You're going to know all 14 of them is absolutely unbelievable in history. I don't think this will ever happen again. To be able to get all these speakers to come for free, it's not kind of free, it's totally free. It's five days and there's no replay. So here's a couple things you have to do. Number one, as soon as you're done listening, go to Ownit60Ownit60com, go check out all the speakers you're going to freak out. Then register, reserve your spot. When you're done reserving your spot, literally pick up your phone and schedule it in. I'm not kidding. There's no replay. This isn't a webinar. This is a five day immersive challenge. We call it a challenge because every day we're going to challenge you to take uncomfortable acts, action. We're going to challenge you to move forward, challenge you to think differently. We're going to bust your beliefs. We're going to go upstream and bust your beliefs and we're going to go downstream and give you the strategy and the tactics. Okay? So that's the second thing is put a reminder because if you miss it, it's going to suck. The third thing you should do right this very second is take ownit60.com and text it to every person you know that needs this as well. If they miss this, they're going to be upset because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. So take own it 60, text it to a friend, say, man, you gotta check out this free challenge. We gotta do this together. And one of them pick one of the people you send it to and make them your accountability partner. Right? And go through it. The last thing, I've been saying this a lot, but I'm gonna say it again. Brad, hit it. So I gotta do it. Pretend you paid $5,000 for this. I know it's free and sometimes when it's free, we don't pay attention. It's like, oh, it's free. That thing at Tony and Dean. In any other world, you could pay five grand for an event like this. These are speakers who get 50 to $400,000 for 90 minutes on stage. Go look. You'll see who I'm talking about. That's what you're going to be on stage.
Prince Ea, Jenna Kutcher, Brendan Burchard, Russell Brunson, Dean Antonio. Obviously it's just incredibly stacked. I don't even want to go on and on.
Yeah, the list goes on and on. Shailene Johnson. I mean, it's everyone you'd want to learn from. So pretend you paid five grand, put it in your calendar. Send ownit60.com to every friend you possibly can to get them there. Pick one accountability partner and show up on May 11th and be ready to just be exposed to what's possible in today's shifting world.
I'm so grateful, Dean. I'm so grateful that you keep raising the bar for the world in general, for people who want to share with their knowledge and making it possible for so many of us. Because we all have, I believe, a mission and a vision that's within us, within our hearts that we're here to create. And if we leave that inside of us and we die with it, you know, without it being spoken, then we're not going to, you know, we're going to regret the time we spent here. So thank you for being a light. Thank you for, you know, befriending Tony, working your butt off behind the scenes. I see how hard you work all the time. I'm just so grateful. Any parting thoughts or wisdom for the audience? Anything you truly have on your heart today that you want to share?
Yeah. First off, thank you for those kind words, Brad. And I know what you do for people behind the scenes as well, man, so keep up the good work. And lastly, I would just say just face it. This world's not going in the right direction. But let's realize that no one is coming to save us. No one's going to wave a magic wand and make it better. The only way we change the world is if we step up and be role models and leaders. And we start by being role models with the people closest to us. Our family, our friends, and then the people that work around us, then our community. We want to change the world. We start with us. And I'd love to have you join us where we can lock arms and gain new capabilities. And if being in the information industry or the online industry is not for you, that's okay. Show up anyway because I promise you, with all these speakers and Tony and I, it will inspire you. It will deliver you capabilities. And there's no way at the end of those five days you could ever be the same. So let's be the role models we need to be to lift this world up 100%.
Dean, so grateful. Thank you for the team listening. I appreciate you, Everybody over@mastermind.com doing this and putting this on. If you are still listening, jump onto Ownit60.com get it in your calendar, Get a friend, get an accountability buddy. Do not miss this. It starts May 11th. Dean, thank you so much for being on the show again and I'll see you soon.
Thanks, Brad.
Have a great day.
