The Reset Button | Change Your Environment, Change Your State

Brad Hart and Laurent use running, swimming, and kayaking in Bayona, Spain to reset their mental state. They found that physical activity and nature quiet the constant chatter in your head, and they start mornings around 6:30 with a six-mile run followed by water time.

What's up guys? How you doing? It's Brad and Laurent coming from. What's the name of this town? The name of this town?
Bayona.
Bayona. Coming from Bayona, Spain.
Espana.
And look where we are right now. Increible. Look at this natural beauty.
Unbelievable.
Anyway, today you want to talk about the ocean? Yes.
What I thought. I don't know what you think, Brad. Is that when you see this water with a lot of clarity, we feel very grateful about it. And I think that's quite the same with our life. When we are not clear about our purpose, where we are not clear about what we want to get project that's more difficult to do the stuff that's more difficult to go very quickly. So I think that's what we can see with the sea is that when we are with a very blue and very clear water, we have a kind of very grateful and very happiness emotional state. And I think that's the same in our life. We have to choose on what to focus. We have to choose to be clear about what we want. Many times we are with so many ideas that we are unable to be clear about. One thing.
Tony talks about the clarity is power. And also the state is. Your emotional state is focus. Right. What you focus on, it's your physical body. It's how you feel and how you use your body. And it's also the language you use. And I would say the physical body is probably the most important thing. So the point of coming out here kayaking, being in nature is using your physical body to swim and enjoy this nature and this beautiful gift that we all have. This planet earth that's so lovely, the nice cool crisp water. And it can change your emotional state just like that. You're having a bad day, come out here, done. No problem.
Yes. Today I think very good. Because we have been running during the sunset.
Yeah, Sunrise.
Sunrise.
So we got up at like 6:30 today. We went running at about 7:15. We did six miles after we swim. Yeah. And then afterwards we swam and now we are kayaking and I took a nap. A nap. I needed one. And now we're kayaking. Beautiful.
That's life to make, to go on, to stretch your body. You need to go up to make some challenge. For me it was a challenge this morning because I have not been running for quite a year.
You're a champ though, man. You held up. It was very impressive.
But at the end with somebody like you, I think that's another lesson. This. When you are not alone in anything. Many times when you are.
Well, even in the beginning you were like running fast. I'm like, slow it down, you're gonna burn out really quick if you, if you run too fast. But we kept a nice pace. We did about a 10, 11 minute mile. And that's like a good solid pace where you get a lot done and you can kind of get in the zone. Right. You don't get out of breath.
Yes. And it was, it was quite easy at the end. But I think the fact is that, that because we were not alone, if I had been alone, I would have tried to run faster. I will not have experience how to do it. And at the end we have made it very easy.
Yeah, totally.
And I think that we have spoken yesterday about connection. And I think that's connection. We are connected with the nature. And when you are connected with the.
Nature and your own body and your own emotions and your own focus and our clarity.
That's all.
And nature. Yeah, absolutely. That's all. A piece of it. Right. So if you're ever feeling a little out of whack or a little funky or like you're just not in a good mood for whatever reason, maybe take a minute, get out into nature and see what's up, maybe hop in the ocean, you know, the work will be there, the project will be there, your stress will be there when you get back. Or maybe it won't.
The fact is that when I was running this morning at the beginning I was quite anxious about my physical body, but at the end I was thinking about my project. Yeah, I was just running, thinking about my project. On getting more clarity.
You're able to quiet that monkey mind. So we all have it. You got to give that monkey mind a job. You can't ignore it. It won't stop. But you got to give it a job. Pay attention to the breath. Pay monkey minds. You won't stop chattering. Breathe in, breathe out. Think about it. Pay attention to it. Breathe in, breathe out. Give it a job. Pay attention. Breathe in, breathe out. And once you do that, it can't think of anything else. You give it a job, it won't bother you anymore.
One exercise that I do sometimes is that I try to see how many seconds I am able to focus on my respiration without any thinking. So maybe it will be the thing that they could do, the people who are listening, maybe they could try to just make some respiration and just count how many respiration they are able to do without thinking on one thing. Yes, that's very interesting because more you do it more. You focus. Yeah.
And it takes practice but if you can meditate consistently and meditation doesn't have to be anything special. It's just focusing on your breath. Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be. If you can focus on your breath for a long time then your mind will be clear and when you do use your minds it will be a lot sharper and more clear and focused and you can get things done much more fast and more quickly. So working hard is not always the key. Working clear and working smart is the key. That's how you get the most done. Anyway, we don't want to make this video video too long. We we have a beautiful day to enjoy here and you guys have a wonderful day wherever you're tuning in from. Greetings from. Where's it again?
Here.
Yeah. What are we called again?
Bayona.
Bayona Espana. Adios.
Thank you.
Aslawego.
