After isn't always the best medicine. And for me, the worst advice I was ever given, the cultural cliche that drove my youth, and I think drives way too many young people now, is if you just work hard enough, it will all pay off in the end. If you just work hard enough, it will all pay off in the end. But we have to recognize is when it comes to our education system, we don't ever tell our students how hard is hard enough. We don't tell them, we don't help them figure out when the end will come, and we don't actually help them truly identify what they want their payoff to be. So they start chasing this undefined goal on an undefined goals on an undefined timeline.
