This is a YouTube video titled "Being triggered by others" containing a monologue or personal reflection recorded on September 4, 2023. The speaker discusses the concept of being triggered by others, radical responsibility, and personal growth through self-forgiveness, particularly relating to past abusive relationships. There is only one speaker present in the excerpt.
Right. People are triggered by radical responsibility. People are triggered by whatever. I think that if you're triggered by something, you need to ask yourself why that's triggering to you. Right? And if that evokes an emotion internally, it probably resonates to some gravity of truth that you're trying to deny about yourself. And that's something that I would examine because you can find a lot of peace. For example, I think that one of the most important things that I've ever done for myself is taking responsibility for all the things that have happened, whether as a consequence of a decision that I make or things that have impacted my life. Life that I used to carry a lot of shame and guilt around, Right? One of them being a very, very abusive relationship. And I carried a lot of guilt and shame around that. And it took a long time for me to be able to forgive myself for that. But I can sit here and talk about it without any of that. And if somebody were to come at me and I've had people that I've dated be like, you know what? You're just going to end up in abusive relationships. That's what you deserve. None of that hurts me. You cannot hurt me, because I know that it is not fundamentally true.
