We grieve largely in proportion to our identity. The more clear we are on who we are, the more capable we feel to heal and move through loss. When our identity is directly correlated to who or what we lost, we don't go through a love crisis, right? We lost who we love, we go through an identity crisis. We don't know who we are without this person or this. And so the path to healing is not addressing the pain associated with the loss, it's addressing an identity crisis that needs to be solved. We have to come out on the other end more self aware than we've ever been. When we know who we are, we heal from identity. We don't heal for identity. Like healing doesn't give us identity. We get identity and then we heal from our identity.
