A guide to spotting hormonal problems like PCOS and hypothyroidism in your teens through thirties, especially after stopping birth control. Learn what irregular periods actually signal and when to take them seriously.
It could be as early as teenage years when you start getting your menstrual cycle. You could have irregularities and get diagnosed with PCOS or hypothyroidism or something as early as teenage. You can also get it after getting off of birth control which you know could be in your 20s, could be in your 30s, could be in your 40s. That's when we have post pill PCOS. But that's also when, if you think about it, when you were young and you were put on birth control at like 14, 13, 14, you never actually let your cycle do what it was supposed to. So now you're getting off of it and now you're like seeing what your body is doing and that could have masked a lot of things for 15 years, right? So that's when we see it when we're trying to get pregnant, that's when we start noticing it. So it's really 20s and 30s even as early as teenage years.
