Beverley Simpson talks about balancing childcare while scaling her business. She describes the challenge of creating social media content that actually drives sales, and how she used podcast listening to learn marketing strategies during her limited work time.
I didn't have him in daycare, and I was trying to scale my business in, like, the nooks and crannies of the day working when he napped. And I just could not spend a single minute more creating another piece of content for social media that I knew was going to get buried in the newsfeed after 24 hours, if I was lucky, that it would get, you know, two likes and four spam comments and drive zero sales to my business because my time was too valuable. I mean, If I had 30 minutes when he's napping to work, you know, I couldn't spend that time creating a reel that would just, you know, totally get overlooked and be on zero people's radar. So I was listening to pilots load them up with snacks, pop my ear pods in, and we'd walk the neighborhood. I'd listen to podcasts. I'd listen to everyone that you guys listen to, probably James Wedmore and Brandon Lucero and Amy Porterfield and all the industry leaders who were teaching me how to market my business.
