So first thing I want to do is dive into what exactly is imposter syndrome. So if you've ever had that feeling, like, who am I to be doing this? Or if you've had that feeling, I'm not ready, I need more certifications. Or maybe you feel like I can't grow a business because I don't even know where to start. Or what about what will people think? Or I hear this a lot from my clients is, ah, I just don't want to annoy anybody. Or how about now? This one was a big thing for me, which was there's someone who can do it better, fit faster, more. I need to wait until I have more certifications. I need to wait until I get that six pack or I need to wait until I look the part or there's someone else out there that has a bigger following. This was a big one. So let's go ahead and identify what that actually is. Imposter syndrome is a fancy way of saying I am afraid and I don't feel, feel like I'm enough. So let's dive into step number one. Recognize that what you're dealing with is fear and fear of judgment. That's one of the first steps to changing any habit, is to acknowledge that it's happening. Because research shows us that 95% of what it is that we're doing on a day to day basis, it's done on automation. Our brain is always looking for the fastest, most efficient way to process something. Think about it. When was the last time you were driving your car to any place that you go all the time, like the grocery store? Can you recognize, do you remember how many lights there were? Do you remember how many were yellow? Do you remember how many were green? Or haven't you ever had that moment where you've just all of a sudden arrived at your place and wondered how you got there? Because you were thinking about something completely, completely different? Like that meeting or that training session or that client session. That's an Example of doing something on automation. So anytime that we want to change something and after we can acknowledge it, we can change it. And so the first step is to recognize what is happening. Recognize you're having a moment of fear and you're afraid of being judged. Now, here's the good news. You're going to be judged 100% of the time. So you might as well just do something that you love. Think about it. Go to your favorite movie of all time. Go look it up on Rotten Tomatoes. Favorite movie. And undoubtedly, even if it had a 99.9% rating, you're going to have a negative comment. Someone out there in the world is. Is not going to like your favorite movie. Now, does that mean that your favorite movie is bad? No. It means that there's somebody else out there that has a different opinion than you. And that's a good thing, because not one person can train all 8 billion people out in the world. It's your job in your content to attract the people that you're going to serve best and push away the people that are not your ideal client. Now, once you have recognized that this is a fear of judgment and that you are going to press on and do what it is that you love, the second step is to move through those feelings of someone else can do it better than me. So if you're anything like me, I had a conversation with one of my mentors who, whom I talk about all the time, James Wedmore, where I said, sometimes I feel like I'm doing my clients a disservice by learning from me when they could be learning from you. And what he said to me in that moment was that, Beverly, not everybody can coach or train all 8 billion people on the planet. There are going to be people that resonate with you, and they're not going to resonate with me. Me. And also, it reminded me by saying that out loud, that's like saying, because Beyonce is an incredible artist and musician, that I shouldn't be, that you can't be, or that anybody else can't be a musician. But that's not true. And that's like saying only one person, one trainer in the world should be a trainer because that person mastered it. But that is simply not true. I get it. It's easy to look out into your market space and think, so and so is doing it better than me. So and so has been doing it longer than me. They have more professional videos. They have more client testimonials. But that leads to number two, which is that you only need to be one step ahead of your ideal client. And oftentimes what's happening is this feeling of lack of confidence that's coming through is because you feel like you're not competent. Confidence will come with competence. So the more you can get your, even if it's your own story and your own results, more client results underneath your belt, the more confident you're going to feel. And that's only going to come with time and only going to come with practice. So one of my mentors also said to me, you're never going to finish with what you started with, but you have to start in order to get there. Which is the third thing that we're going to take a look at, which is your self worth and self esteem. Now, nobody wants to talk about this. This is the uncomfortability part of the conversation where everyone wants to say, nope, skip off and not pay attention. But listen, the more you can feel secure and better about yourself and tune out the other noise that's going on in your marketplace, the better that confidence that you need to put yourself out there to come up against the trolls and come up against the haters. That is going to be combated, it's going to be crushed, it's going to be quieted by the people, by a strong conviction, a knowing that your content is going to help someone else. Also a third part about this, self worth and self esteem, which is very hard for people to wrap their brain around. But your business and your success and how well you're doing is not a measurement of your self worth. It is not a measurement of your self esteem. Your business is not your baby. You're enough just because you're here. Think about it. For all my parents out there, the first time you hold a baby, for the very first time, you're not gonna say I love you when you'll be worth something. When you get 100 subscribers, when you earn 150k, nobody, no mom, no parent is going to say that when they hold their baby. So your self worth and your self esteem is not measured by how successful your business is. The faster that you can get on board with that, the faster you're going to be able to feel better about putting your content out there. Number four, everyone talks about it all the time, but it's really important, which is gratitude. You cannot feel negative, you cannot feel unworthy, you cannot feel like you're sucking or you cannot feel negative, you cannot feel unworthy. When you are coming from a place of gratitude and gratefulness for your clients for their success, for your success, for your commitment. All of that is going to help combat those feelings of I'm not enough or who am I to be doing this? Because a better question to be asking yourself is who are you not to be doing? Because a better question to ask yourself is why not you? Because the truth of the matter is if it's not going to be you, it will be someone else. Okay, quick recap. Four ways to overcome those feelings of Imposter syndrome. Number one, recognize that it's fear so that we can change it and move through it. Number two, feel good about just being one step ahead of your ideal client. Number three, detach your self worth and self esteem from the success of your business. Number four, get into gratitude for all the things that are going really well so that you can combat those feelings of negativity. If you like this video, chances are your friends will too.
