This is a YouTube video titled "In Season and Off Season Rugby Training Programs Build Strength and Speed" containing a monologue or presentation discussing the differences between in-season and off-season training programs for rugby players, focusing on balancing strength, speed, injury resilience, and recovery. The content was created in April 2025.
So an in season program would look look like we're building power, speed, injury resilience into it, but also balancing out the fact that you have to play a game either every week or every other week, an 80 minute game, which you then have to in recovery time. So it's like balancing that training and building up the strength with the recovery so that you can actually play at your feet. And then in the opposite of that, an off season program would look a bit more like how do we get back anything that we might have lost over the season? How can we add mass now that we're not on the pitch once a week? Because rugby players do tend to lose a bit of mass over a season and being big is generally a good thing for a player. Regardless of your position, muscle mass is always going to be a good thing to have. So yeah, either off season it would be much more like, let's amp this up. Let's really get you back to the start of the next season. In September, you are beyond where you were at the end of the last season.
