This is a YouTube video titled "Learning from Mistakes Managing Expectations" containing a reflective talk or interview where two speakers discuss the challenges of managing client expectations in coaching and business. The speakers share insights about the importance of considering clients' individual circumstances and skill levels to avoid mismanaged expectations. The content is from December 17, 2024.
What was one of your biggest mistakes that you made and what did you learn? What did you learn from it?
What's easy for me is not easy for others. So sometimes I had a mismanaged expectation experience. And it's very easy for a lot of coaches in our industry to put that on the client, when in reality, I think it's on me because I was like, oh, this is easy. But I just did not take into consideration their client's skillset level and a client's ability to acquire skill. That's on me. And this is true for, for business building as well as for clients. Like, I could tell a client like, hey, you're going to lose £20 in, in 12 weeks, no problem. But did I take into consideration the circumstances that they're living? Is this a single mom who's got three jobs, who's also got four kids, who's never lifted before in their entire life? That's on me as a coach. And then because I had made those types of promises, I would push people past their limit of capability and capacity, and that's on me.
