This is a YouTube video titled "Music as a coping mechanism" containing a monologue or talk recorded on August 29, 2023. The speaker discusses how music, particularly playing guitar, serves as a personal outlet and coping mechanism, especially in the context of coaching clients on nutrition and managing emotional eating. The content focuses on alternative coping strategies beyond food.
Music for me primarily is essentially just an outlet. And, you know, I think the place where I probably use it the most when, you know, when you're having a say, a coaching moment is probably happens more through the realm of, you know, coaching for nutrition. Because a lot of the clients that come to see me, whether it's the people who Spencer or the people that are here, you know, if there's weight to lose, perhaps it's because of a lack of particular coping mechanisms. And so where food becomes the cope for a lot of people struggling with stress or boredom or, you know, emotions otherwise undefined, you do start to ask things like, well, what else do you do with your time? What else can you do when you're bored? What else can you do that's not directly tied to food? And one of the things that I use for myself is I still turn to my guitar. So, you know, I have a guitar at home and I have a guitar right here next to me at the studio.
