This is a YouTube video titled "Navigating the Differences: Client Communication in In Person and Online Coaching" containing a monologue by Beverley Simpson recorded in March 2025. Beverley discusses the distinctions between in-person and online coaching, focusing on the challenges of real-time feedback and communication with clients in different coaching environments.
In person coaching is reactive in the moment. Online coaching is reacting after the moment. So the person who's sending you videos of their workouts, so do technique direction on that workout's already happened in Duck. You're not going to give them feedback in the moment of that workout to make that workout better. Unless you're literally there doing a virtual session with that client and saying, your back's moving like this. Fix it this way now. Okay, now it's better. We can keep going forward. So you're working in more of like a reactive scenario for your coaching. Whereas with in person training it's more in the moment. You're giving them real time feedback and making sure they're able to do what they need to do. So it's a different skill set, it's a different form of communication, it's a different way of presenting the problem and solution. But also there's some clients that just don't give you feedback. They just don't send you videos, they don't do weekly updates, they don't do the regular stuff that you would expect them to do as part of online, which makes communication harder. And it makes you kind of be like, what do I do for my next program? I've had no data follow up from you to know what we should be doing next. So that communication breakdown becomes a real challenge online. Whereas if I'm watching you in person, I can see when you walked in, are your eyes, you're tired today. Are you walking with a sludge posture? You're tired today. Are you walking in with the skip in your step? Are you really bubbling.
