Personal Training is Changing

A trainer explains how personal training is shifting from in-person sessions to online coaching. He argues trainers need to build sustainable businesses beyond traditional certifications and embrace self-empowerment to survive the changing fitness industry.
Personal training is changing, the world is shifting and opportunities that never existed before are opening up like virtual classes, online coaching, online options for fitness. It's not going away, but most people are afraid to dive in and waiting until things go back to the way that things were and give in to the belief about being too late and beliefs like the market is too saturated or there's no room for me. But it's not about being the only one, the best one, the smartest one. It's about self empowerment, creating inner strength and resilience, and being a servant leader so that you can help your clients in your own unique way just because you're you. And then we get to be the role model for our clients and also for the next generation. But the problem is that nobody teaches us in school or teaches us in our certification. How to generate real wealth, how to build a sustainable business, how to attract, serve and keep clients. The industry leads you to believe that if you just get smarter, get more certifications, that you'll be able to make a lot of money. But that's not working for us anymore. Especially with what's going on in the world right now. You probably feel a collective shift happening too. Changes in everything from how our gyms are run and how we show up for our clients. It's more about connecting virtually, creating opportunity instead of finding it. Look how far we've come. Soon running your own business won't just be an option, but the norm. And jobs will become obsolete as more and more trainers shift their focus from getting a job to creating their job. We already see it happening as more and more trainers enter the online space, the online market, and shift their in person business to online or a hybrid version, both in person and online. And what becomes possible for the new generation when they are raised to believe that there is already greatness inside of them and they don't have to just get a job, but they can be, do and have whatever it is they want and create something that doesn't even exist yet. And they don't have to follow the current path, the current way of doing things. And it's my job, it's our job to disrupt the current way of building a personal training business from a job setting so that we can open up a whole new world of possibility for coaches everywhere that allows them and their children and their family to enjoy life, feel good in their lifestyle and way of working, and work smarter, not harder. Now, with this massive shift in the industry, we're going to see our next generation working less and earning more. And so it might be a good time to ask yourself, do you really want to wait until everyone else gets on board when you can start now and be the change the future generation needs to see? Sam.
