This is a YouTube video titled "Public Speaking Strategies for Coaches: Beyond Industry Approval" featuring Beverley Simpson discussing strategies for coaches to build local authority and clientele through public speaking and community engagement rather than seeking industry-wide approval or high-profile speaking fees. The content is a monologue or talk focused on practical advice for coaches in the wellness industry.
What I actually encourage coaches to do is I think the skill of public speaking is great, but you're looking in the wrong place. Don't seek industry approval and status. Look locally, look in the space that you're operating. And can you lean into local corporate wellness? And it may be volunteering at local schools, businesses, et cetera. There's a great book on this called Authority Content. We'll talk tactically about how to set these sort of things up and film it and document and you can showcase this. And you know what pays? Well, I mean, if you're a, if you're a Brad Schoenfeld or some of the other, like, preeminent figures in the industry, you know, you're, you're Dr. Lane Norton, etc. You can, you know, quote, demand a nice speaking fee that makes the travel worthwhile. Martin Rooney's definitely done this for a long time, etc. Right. There are figures in the industry, but for the vast majority of us, you know, most cases, my flights and hotel are taken care of. That's wonderful. And I don't complain about, oh, I'm taking time away from where I could be working over the course of, like, a long weekend when I'm traveling. This is fun stuff to go to. I, I'm not going to complain about that. That's, that's missing the point, too. But it doesn't pay and it doesn't generate clientele unless you're a business mentor. Now, if you're a business mentor.
