This is a YouTube video titled "Pushing Limits: How Cutting Transforms Powerlifters' Journey" featuring Beverley Simpson sharing her personal experience with powerlifting, focusing on the challenges and mental resilience developed through maintaining a cutting phase while training. The content is a monologue reflecting on how this discipline has positively impacted various aspects of her life.
I changed everything about my life and for the better. I also. This is kind of unique. A lot of power lifters don't do this, but I basically have been in a cut the entire time. I powerlifted the first powerlifting knee. I bulked 15 pounds. And I've never been like, my jeans, I'm just not a tiny frame. I'm five two, but I'm. I'm. I'm a strong girl. Like, I got the legs, I got the shoulders. So I've been in a cut, which is just, like, really tight. Taught me that. I don't want to say, like, I can do anything, but it's just given me the resilience that I can show up and do the hard things. And when. When I feel like there's a failure or I fail a lift, and I understand, like, why and, you know, maybe I'm not fueling as much and things. These things are supposed to happen at this point, and it's almost like you're reaching your edge. That's how you get better. But sometimes we can look at that as, like, a failure, and it's like, no, we're pushing the edge, hitting failure to find our potential so that we can now find a new benchmark to build from there. So being in this cut, lifting these heavy weights, showing up to these dang workouts, exhausted sometimes, and just knowing I have to do it, I mean, that will change you as a person, and that will transfer into every single bucket of your life. Your relationships, your romantic relationships, your friends, your business. Like, every single thing, it's just made me a better person.
