This is a YouTube video titled "Putting in effort as a meet director" containing a monologue or talk from August 2, 2023, discussing the dedication, effort, and personal rewards involved in being a meet director in a sport, emphasizing the importance of commitment despite lack of financial gain. The speaker reflects on the value of contributing to the sport's growth and building a personal brand as a coach and fan.
The more energy and effort you put into it as a meet director, the better the experience will be for the lifters. So it's something you should take very seriously and you should put a lot of time into. But you're also going into that knowing that you're not going to make any money for that time. You're going to invest a lot of time, energy and stress into something that you're probably not going to really make anything from. But it does feel worth it because, especially for me, it's something that builds your brand. When you're willing to do that as a coach, it shows a lot about your character and makes you more desirable for lifters to want to work with. But it's also just something that feels very nice to do as somebody that participates in the sport, coaches in the sport, but it was also as just a massive fan of the sport. I want to see the sport continue to, like, level up, grow and get better. And if I can even just be like a small part of that change of leveling up and producing better products, as far as local meets go and meet directing in general and showing what's possible, when you can put in a lot of energy and effort, it helps raise the standard.
