This is a YouTube video titled "Revealed The Truth About Job Security Why Trainers Have the Last Laugh!" containing a monologue by Beverley Simpson recorded in April 2023. Beverley discusses the instability and income insecurity faced by trainers compared to traditional salaried jobs, referencing Nassim Nicholas Taleb's book "Antifragile" to challenge common perceptions about job security.
One of my big things is I think especially the last couple years, a lot of trainers left the industry because they were uncomfortable with the instability of, what's the word I like to use, sorry, the lack of security of our income. And one of my favorite books really blows the doors off of this one, antifragile by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. Now it's a heavier read. It's a brilliant philosophy. Nassim is a pompous ass of an author who likes to remind you at every step of the way that he's smarter than you are. But he has great ideas. Okay. Forgive my bluntness. Love it. This whole idea that, okay, the person with a 9 to 5 salary job is somehow more secure and stable than the trainer who income varies month to month. Well, how many people do you know over the last couple of years or even before it, their salary went from $60,000 to zero overnight.
