This is a YouTube video titled "The Concept of Mixed Mindset and Growth Mindset" containing a monologue or lecture-style explanation about the differences between fixed and growth mindsets, focusing on how beliefs about personal abilities affect learning and perseverance. The content is educational and does not feature multiple speakers or a conversation.
You know, what the studies have shown is there's really kind of two distinct mindsets that people hold about themselves in the world around them. Fixed mindset. Our traits, our skills, our abilities are fixed. We have natural talent. There's things we're just good at, there's things we're not good at, and those things are relatively unchanging, like, we can't do too much about it. So it's better to stick to our strengths, ignore the weaknesses, double down. Then there's growth mindset. Growth mindset is a little bit different in that we will believe that we can improve our skills and our abilities through practice. So I may not be good at something right away, but if I put in the time and the effort to learn how to do it better, my skills can grow and I can get better. And so there's some drastic differences in how we approach things there. If we think we're unchanging or we can't be changed and we fail at something, then we're more likely to quit, give up, and not try it again, because what's the point? We can't do anything about it. But if we start to develop a belief in this growth mindset, then those setbacks become the lessons that we apply to get better.
