This is a YouTube video titled "The Future of the Strength Conditioning Certification" containing a monologue or talk from July 1, 2023, discussing the need to modernize teaching methods in the field of strength conditioning to better engage current students and uphold professional standards. The speaker reflects on outdated educational approaches and the importance of refining the curriculum to improve the field's reputation.
And so that's something that's very, very interesting and positive for us in the field because it essentially says, hey, you know, those old textbooks and old ways of teaching, for lack of a better way of saying this, we need to make everything new, you know, refine everything and enhance everything, which in turn will make us less aggravated when we go on social media because of all the people who are in our field that maybe, you know, have gotten in because the low barrier of entrance and aren't upholding the, the, the standards of the field. That's kind of me saying in a very nice way. So I think what they're looking for students, and I had a great conversation with a buddy of mine just before that, who's an academic as well, is we need to get away from like, hey, here's the textbook. I'm going to lecture you. I'm going to read from these slides. I'm going to have PowerPoint slides with a million bullet points. Like, you've lost the student. The current student, 18 to 22 is your typical student, but I have students who are in their 50s and 60s.
