This is a YouTube video titled "The importance of expectation setting" containing a monologue or talk recorded on March 5, 2024. The speaker discusses the concept of being willing and able to put in effort to achieve extreme results, emphasizing the importance of balancing effort and recovery, especially when dealing with illness or overtraining. The content appears motivational or coaching-oriented, focusing on realistic goal setting and health awareness.
So this again comes back to the willing and able, which is a statement that I use with my clients all the time. It's like, we can't expect the world and give nothing in return. So if you want extreme results, you need to put in extreme effort and do extreme work. Right? And if you're not willing and. Or able to do those things, then we can't. We can't accept that. Now, sometimes we also have to rein people back in. Like you said, someone who has the flu and you know all this kind of stuff, and. And I'm like, hey, you're putting in, like, you're doing more effort, you're doing more stuff and working hard. But more is not always better. Better is better. And so going to the gym six days a week to run yourself into the ground, like, that's not the thing that might be the best thing for you to be doing, despite trying to get better and more results. So then we need to take an honest look like, okay, this is what you're doing. This is what's happening. It's obviously not working. So what do we need to change? You are training all this, like, going to the gym so many times when you're sick, you're getting sick more often than you otherwise would be or should be.
