This is a YouTube video titled "The power of personality psychology" containing a monologue or talk where a speaker with a background in psychology discusses their experience studying motivation and mindset at the University of Michigan, and their initial skepticism about personality psychology due to criticisms from social psychology professors. The content appears to be a reflective or educational talk rather than a conversation.
It's interesting because some of it stems from my background in psychology. So, like I said, I studied motivation, mindset and motivation at the University of Michigan, and really in the social psychology department, which is the study of psychology between groups of people. And I just remember listening to the professors and the graduate student advisors often talk about the clashes they would have with the personality psychologists. And they would constantly talk about the lack of scientific validity, or how they was just, like, making stuff up, or they would often equate it to horoscopes and astrology and not really being a real science, and they're just making stuff up and telling people what they want to hear and all this stuff. And so I remember actually coming out of that experience having a really negative view about personality psychology. They're just. They're making it up. There's nothing going on here.
