This is a YouTube video titled "The psychology of food" containing a monologue or talk discussing cultural influences on eating habits and mindful eating practices, recorded in June 2024. The speaker reflects on personal and client experiences related to food and cultural conditioning, particularly within Hispanic and Italian backgrounds.
It's like, how often do people actually eat out of that quadrant? And why would they? I think. I mean, again, I could speak for my clients. A lot of my clients really struggle with food being in front of them. They've been conditioned through the, you know, clean plate club, some of them. Culturally. I mean, again, I'm half Hispanic, half Italian. In both cultures, food is family, food is push. And if you don't eat the food that you don't like, the person. So culturally, like, you've had to eat foods. I remember having to, like, sit over a piece of liver because my. My Italian grandfather made it, and if I didn't finish it, he would give you more. Like, that's the shit that we've gone through, I think, in our culture. I mean, in our generation. Right. So, you know, we have to. And with my clients, it's teaching them to be mindful, like, sitting. I tell people all the time, do you know your taste buds are in your mouth? Slow down.
