This is a YouTube video titled "The science of fat loss" containing a monologue by Beverley Simpson recorded in January 2024. Beverley discusses the scientific approach to dieting, emphasizing maintenance phases, calorie deficits, and nutrient-dense meals to support sustainable fat loss.
We know that we have another 16 weeks of maintenance after that, that we can enjoy and lean into higher calories and have some more flexibility, and then we see how much comes off, and then we do it again 16 weeks later or 10 weeks later. And basically, I think as long as you give somebody enough time to get the noise of food out of their head in between dieting attempts, then I think it just becomes a little bit easier to do, because I think that's the problem, is when you restrict somebody's food, is what we have to do scientifically. Obviously, we have to put somebody in a calorie deficit. That's going to be uncomfortable. But are they able to eat four times a day with nutrient dense meals? Do they have lean protein and plenty of veggies on their plate every single time they eat to fill themselves up? So.
