This is a YouTube video titled "The stages of isometrics" containing a monologue by Beverley Simpson recorded on July 25, 2023. Beverley discusses the different stages people go through when learning movements, emphasizing patience and specific techniques to help learners progress from thinking about a movement to feeling it.
We also have to kind of acknowledge like, all right, well, there's these three stages, right? And. And people are going to move through those stages in different speeds. And I'm sure part of that is based on experience, but part of that is also just everyone learns at different speeds. And so again, when we try to. To give something that's too complex or if we try to progress people too quickly, imagine I'm giving you something brand new and you're still in the. I. I'm thinking about it, I don't feel it. I don't think I'm doing it right stage yet. And so some of what it takes is some patience. And so then let's get specific, right? If I were to think about how I'm going to help somebody learn a movement, start to feel it, get out of thinking, get more into feeling, well, then I've got some actual techniques, some methods that I can use to help them with that learning, right? So, for example, if you think about it, step one is really an isometric. So let's say I'm doing a split kneeling, bottoms up, kettlebell press.
